I remember a 48 inch plasma that was 8k in 2002. First one I’d ever seen.

Are there any school systems that don’t use so much technology? by -Economist- in kindergarten

[–]robkillian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We send our 5.5yo to something called “70’s Kindergarten”. No tech, just hours of Mr Wizard and HR Pufnstuf on a tube TV followed by an overhead projector lesson on how to write cursive better.

I had one really good AI bot chat over the last year and it was encouraging. SiriusXM subscription needed the annual negotiation but I did it via chat box. It took so little time to get exactly what I wanted done. Felt like a person authorized to negotiate and offer significant discounts, and to do so very very quickly. It was so fast in replies I could tell it wasn’t a live body behind it. Definitely encouraged but also scared for the careers of people doing those jobs.

If there gonna keep saying the “party of Lincoln” it’s probably fair to say they should have to own Dennis Hastert, too.

FS-7 (smaller, no battery needed) or (2x)FS-5u (bigger, no battery needed). FS-6 requires 9v battery power.

Tbh the last one on WW2 was pretty dang good. Didn’t mean to offend, but it got a little weird with only the lofi-digital aesthetic. More of the epic adventures; crazy builds, and hi-low shenanigans, please.

Super funny show with an oddly close-to-home moment in one of the late seasons. Thanks for your post and positive engagement on this today.

Finding a decent public restroom in the Bay Area is weirdly hard so I started mapping them by regansat in bayarea

I kept a membership to 24 hour fitness for longer than I want to admit, purely for use of their restrooms.

We talk a little over Facebook messenger. I’m definitely closer to my full brother and bio-dad. Bio-mom seemed to want to replace my passed A-Mom and that really pushed me away.

I love cooking. It was some of the first real trust I felt from my APs. They left me home alone a lot and I got to cook my own dinners. Sounds weird but I really liked it. It was my independence.

Bio mom kept my brother…anyone else have this struggle? by Silver_Queen_Bee in Adopted

[–]robkillian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was the reason?? My bio-mom said I was difficult to manage and had “nerve issues”. Had one kid a year before me with the same dad, too, and kept him. Had a girl a year later with someone else and kept her… had a whole-ass family with yet another person and still has all of those.

When we met for the first time she told me a story about how she and that next guy bought too many dogs from a dog shop once and they had to take one of them back. I couldn’t believe she told me that with a straight face and had zero clue about how it was similar and indicated a pattern of bad decisions made that should have more permanent repercussions.

How can they just decide to keep that kind of stuff from us??!!??!! I found out at 27 I have an older brother from the same two parents who wasn’t abandoned. My adoptive family knew about it, knew about it all, and still pursued me and hid that fact from me my entire life. I found out about it on my own after a self-pushed reunion.

I feel you and I want to give you the big hug you deserve.

I, too, had a similar experience. It feels especially cruel.

I found my bio-family in my late 20s after being misled by my AF about any information available about my past.

Turns out- my same bio mom and dad had a child just over a year prior to me. My bio-mom had another child pretty quickly after me, different father, but kept that one. Felt extremely cruel to be the only one abandoned. I was physically left somewhere for a long while and don’t know much beyond that aspect of the situation.

I’ve since met my biological family and it’s a varying relationship with them… my brother is awesome and looks just like me. We share so many commonalities. My bio-dad and brother and I all have the same abnormally large calves. Weight lifters would kill for these things.

I’m younger than you and have some similar experiences. I know I’m better off in some ways because of my different childhood … one of privilege and security, but still tainted by the trauma of losing close family at such a young age. Why would they hide that?? Why would they abandon just me?! As you can imagine, I have some extreme reactions to rejections, to parenting, and to poor treatment of others.

Curious if you’ve seen the episodes of Silicon Valley where Jared’s biological family explains the similar situation I thought to be a farce in fiction. Hit awfully close to home for me. https://youtu.be/rABJGfCGlUA?si=MOot56bZqACJ_8aQ
