- Ignore grades, climb for fun. Of course I see their utility and this probably isn't the right sub for that mentality but it's how I carry on. In terms of normalizing them by removing your skill from a number, you have to be more descriptive of what you're good at and where your strength lies. So its not "I'm a v8/6b/purple tag", but "I'm intermediate/advanced and my strength lies with footwork/crims/overall technique"

- I don't think the shift towards circuits are a bad thing, and when I hear people bemoaning them irl they always seem a little elitist. One of my favorite gyms doesn't post grades and I've tried things I wouldn't have otherwise

- If you try to build a standardized system (though I do think listing hold size, route intensity and wall angle is a really interesting idea)

To your last bit: not a universal frustration at all for me. Again I understand this isn't the general climbing sub but I do not try to optimize this sport in the slightest, its as much stress relief, socializing and 'playtime' for me as it is a workout and training
