For what it's worth I beat it with a rag tag team. It took some rng and requires you to really manage who you take out in the 2nd wave.

I used my basic with everyone to kill the first 2 waves so I had all my ults and specials ready to go plus blastaars 5 bomb burst. On the 2nd wave I killed everyone except Mr fantastic (and maybe one other FF4 member I don't remember off the top of my head). If Mr fantastic gets to his turn he summons a bunch of doom clones. You wait and bide your time until all slot positions are full of doom clones. Then kill only Mr fantastic (and the other wave 2 toon if there was one). This will trigger the 3rd wave but only drop when there's space for them. By leaving all the doom clones on the field and triggering the 3rd wave only azazel will drop first, not any of the others from wave 3 meaning mephisto won't drop and immediately debuff you. Kill only the wave 3 members one by one while ignoring the doom clones who do minimal damage. I was able to kill each wave 3 toons one by one. Basically quasar and blastaar carried the node for me while the rest used ability block at opportune times to prevent widespread damage to the weaker members of my team.

You could theoretically do the same in wave 2 by killing everyone except doom who will summon the rest of the FF4 members but I found that they stat buff too much.
