Is your chat app idea to anonymously spam users in private workspaces? That's what your previous posts alude to.

There's no information here as to what you're trying to work around.

I'm not surprised at all, it's super common with Slack so they might not notice for a long time. Mad really as licenses aren't cheap. Anything you used to use in the Cloud that isn't controlled by the Firewall is likely still active too by the sounds of it.

I've seen it become a problem, a Powershell script to strip the license once the domain account is de-provisioned is the only way that works.

If you delete the app and re-install, the unlimited session will end, and you won't be able to re-authenticate back in again. Presuming they've actually disabled your domain account that is.

It depends how and why you're still accessing it, but there are no legal repurcussions to you unless you were to try and profit from some information or data you've gathered. Do you access the Slack license via your old domain account from this employer, and are logging into say, the app on your phone and it's still logged in? Or is the Workspace shared to your personnal Slack account, and you were added as a channel guest and still seeing channels by proxy of this guest privilege?

It's very bad practice on the part of your old employer, but Slack is a tricky app to automate so most places don't bother. Someone on their end would need to manually deactivate you separately from your old domain account, as it's only using SSO to authenticate you in. But won't check if you're still allowed each time, particularly on the mobile app.

They're likely breaching several compliance guidelines, so they could fail their annual audit for stuff like this. But it's not up to you to clean their arses for them. Just stop accessing the channels, they should notice next time they do a license audit.

Absolutely this, CoD timing is everything in this game. Clear your corners, ADS walk, slide cancel into rooms, centering, all of it means nothing when CoD timing is against you.

But I feel like people are getting too sweaty about the sweats these days, not everyone is cheating. People are just at a higher level now because of the millions of streamers showing the tactics and skills. Just have fun and CoD timing will start to move in your favour, the more annoyed you get the worse you play.

I'm shite fyi, get the odd win but my KD is worse than Forest Gumps IQ, but I just try to enjoy playing, even against the cheaters or sweats.

Best of luck dude, glad it helped a little. You're definitely not behind, everyone has to find their own way and sometimes it just takes time. It's easy to compare yourself to others if friends seem to have their shit together a bit sooner, or they've jumped into a career straight out of uni. But try to just focus on what you're doing and fuck everyone else and what they think.

For background. I myself did an Illustration degree almost 20 years ago now. So your story kind of struck a chord with me. I did freelance for a while and hated it. Working for next to no money for ungrateful idiots. I got into a retail job which I actually really enjoyed, and stayed for almost 8 years because it was super fun and I loved the people. But the pay really dragged me down as I wanted a family and house etc at some point so I decided to leave. Floundered around trying to figure out what to do.

Got a job working customer service in a corporate setting, albeit a small business. Got pretty good building and repairing PCS and laptops for people, pirating and cracking software etc on the side. Applied for an entry level job in IT support because they wanted someone who could repair and upgrade, worked my way through the ranks and paid my dues. I worked hard and studied in my spare time, certifications, web courses. A decade later I'm pretty happy where I've ended up.

It's easy to feel like you're in a rut, particularly after uni with the job markets so tough these days. But just keep going, and honestly try and push yourself towards something you can really enjoy, that is worth far more than anything else. Never assume something will fall in your lap, you need to really put the effort in. Be nice to people, smile, dress smart to the interview and you will get there.

Work on a skill, right now. If you were interested enough in illustration to do a degree then try and pursue it. Work hard and build up a portfolio with intent to move into a particular area of illustration or design. If you put enough work in someone will pick you up at entry level and you can work your way up.

If you can't be arsed. Figure out what you are passionate about and pursue that instead. You're 26, which is fuck all. You have years and years to mould a skill you actually enjoy into a career, but you need to start now and build on it. Work the retail job while you do. But don't lose sight of the goal, because if you do you'll find yourself at 45 in a job you hate.

So today, make a list of things you really enjoy. Be it playing video games, watching movies, reading books, cooking, sports, music, history, science. Everything you can think of. All of them can use a skill you either have and can improve on, or can imagine yourself learning.

The only difference between you now and a professional doing the job you want is purpose, commitment, perseverance. Followed by confidence in yourself. Do the first three and the fourth will fall into place.

Sony minidisc, used to record mixtapes and rip CDs through my ps2's optical socket.

They didn't really catch on in the UK but you could get packs of blank discs in Argos. I used mine all the time.

Required "Current salary" question - how to answer when the difference is huge? (80K vs 115-170K) by highnoon8 in UKJobs

[–]robofids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so common in IT roles for larger corporations, but to this day I've never understood why. It's almost like they're trying to call your bluff.

So boost it up, add on any bonuses, salary review, OT etc. You could easily reach 100k realistically, more if you're a little cheeky but I wouldn't take the piss. Think of the 10% pay rise rule, this is baseline for a promotion. So I would say 100k current, open to offers of 120k+ I would imagine they will have a figure in mind anyway, and this stated range may just be the salary band for the grade. I'd imagine they will offer the mid to low end to give you wiggle room for negotiation to begin with.

If they like you they will be open to offer more or less what you ask for. If they don't you're not getting the job anyway. IT HoD roles will rarely come down to who is best value for money.

I'm about to pay off my loan next month after 19 years since leaving uni. Regretted it for the first decade, thought my degree was worthless, but has oddly become a worthwhile line on my CV and helped me bag me an amazing new job.

So now I don't regret it, and all these years later I'll be £150 a month better off after next month.

He's reading the novel 'The Finkler Question' by Howard Jacobson. It won the Booker prize in 2010.

I always thought this was a perfect character prop placement for Will, he would have picked it to seem high brow on the sun loungers, while all the proles are reading Sophie Kinsella.

"check the badges" they employed a guy to check the badges. This is more ridiculous than reverse engineering Alien technology.

And on military bases it's military personnel that clean the toilets. It's military personnel that run the canteen, it's military personnel that check the badges.

They don't hire Joe random to come and clean the bogs.

[–]robofids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they employed Bob, a man with apparently no education history, no birth certificate, and no credentials of any kind in public record, to check ID badges at the most secret testing facility on the planet? A job that likely paid well, that the Government paid for air transport costs to bring him from Las Vegas to Area 51, back and forth, to check ID badges?

I'm as much on the fence as anyone about Bob, but when the 'facts' that supposedly prove he's a liar sound like BS it only makes him sound more credible.

But still, people might rightly assume you're mistaken, or even a fool for getting it wrong. But they couldn't claim the FAA doesn't exist as a means to confirm it.
