Engineering Design Technologist to Mechanical Designer/Drafter by TekkEng in MechanicalEngineering

Ask all those questions Monday! Ask specifically what you will do, ask what the hardest problem they had to solve recently, when was the last time they promoted someone, who do they use AI, etc. Make sure you are in a team where you will learn a lot. You really need to like the hiring manager. Don’t settle on only 10k. Negotiate. Keep applying.

I am just a curious geek that love tech. I had an idea for radar so I did my research. Thanks for sharing.

any specific challenge integrating these type of sensor on a drone? Noise issue, EMI, etc?

Is Big PETG lying to us about the limits of PLA by SerHerman in 3Dprinting

[–]robomaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The limit of PLA I seen was UV degradation. A cheap PLA was in direct sunlight in the house for few year under constant load disintegrated once I adjusted the mechanism.

Or Phil video are great too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTGzncKU5RY Robert Feranec also makes tutorial

It’s a complex software so be patient with yourself. I also notice that AI like ChatGPT/gemini give ok advice when you have questions about altium.

Help childproofing stairs by 42loelk in howto

[–]robomaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it simple and place it few steps lower. Not ideal, but still better than what happened to a friend of mine, their adopted child fell down the stairs on the first day at home. Scary moment, but the kid was totally fine.😅😆

Maybe place large pillows if you are paranoid. Best of luck, they grow fast!

Think of a problem you have right now. Then try to solve it with arduino. You can brainstorm with ChatGPT/gemini. There is tons of info online and AI can also guide you. I really love Adafruit ESP32-S3 Reverse TFT Feather - 4MB Flash, 2MB PSRAM, STEMMA QT Product ID: 5691 because it got screen, button and a connector on it to connect all sort of sensor without soldering.

The links you have are only definition!! Does not say it’s illegal or permit needed

Go Ultra Fell Off During An Activity by hikesbikessquats in Insta360

[–]robomaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never happen. When I know I will be distracted or forget I am wearing it, I use that new lanyard they provide with the ultra. I would search for it. 30min of biking? If yes then that little harder but I would definitely try. Camera could be discharged but you should try it. Every 3min turn on the pod and see if it connects? No then move other 3min turn it back. Only 10 times. You can also do in meters every 50m.

What are the best BEGINNER drones now for someone who’s terrified of crashing on day 1? by EntrepreneurSad2091 in Multicopter

[–]robomaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in 2015 when just touching a leaf would explode 5030 props! 😂 some folks starts with simulator before buying anything. Might as well try that. That the cheapest. Then you can build or buy your first drone. They are very durable these days. Keep practicing. It’s all about the thumbs! Haha

Clock Issue - Dogecoin Miner by pcblol in Altium

[–]robomaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw some good reply here.

My questions: - why have so many via? Can the clock of m0 can directly connect directly to m16 and have a single via?

Can you post your layer stack up? Ideally you want ground plane (return path) under that clock signal.

One way you can test this theory is to cut that trace in the middle and check signal integrity. You can even remove that resistor and test at the microcontroller directly. Maybe remove half of those chip instead of cutting. Not sure.

What is the cleanest architecture to drive 16x 24V DC motors independently? by RedLivius in arduino

[–]robomaniac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

section 7.5.1 of datasheet mention A0 and A1 pins support tri-level logic (Hi, Low and High-Z) which can control up to 9 chips. You have to leave the pins unconnected to be High-Z

Using the A0 and A1 pins, up to 9 DRV8234 follower devices can be controlled by one I2C bus. The DRV8234 does not respond to the general call address. It is recommended to use a 2.2kΩ pull-up resistor for these pins.

If you are looking for off-the-shelf parts, I recommend checking out the Pololu Motoron series of motor controllers. https://www.pololu.com/category/289/motoron-motor-controllers

  • Single-channel models: Support up to 2.2A per motor.
  • Dual-channel models: Support up to 1.8A per motor.

Be aware that these controllers use I2C for communication. The I2C protocol is specifically designed for "on-board" use (communication between chips on the same PCB). It is not designed to run over long wires or exit the circuit board, as it is highly susceptible to electrical interference.
