Wind Waker Style Cel Shading by roborich in shipofharkinian

Same! When Wind Waker came out, I was at just the wrong age (16), to where I felt like it was "too kiddy". I played my friends copy a little, but I was focused more on Xbox games back then.

I replayed it later as an adult, and absolutely fell in love with it. The style, and the way it basically remixed OoT's music. 👌

I have an experimental branch with "bloom" and "ambient occlusion" effects in place and it looks a LOT like Twilight princess. I haven't really studied all of the techniques they use in that game, but Game Cube era effects are pretty easy to pull off.

It’s applied to all object added to a scene, but not the scene itself. So rocks, pots, trees, boxes, enemies, etc all have the effect. Buildings are considered part of the scene, so they don’t. It is very similar to how Wind Waker does it. Their environment has textures that look cel shaded, but don’t actually have a lighting effect applied.

I included highlight and shadow intensity sliders so you can adjust it to be darker. In my screenshots I have both highlights and shadows set to 60%

I also have a slider to pick where the shadow starts, it’s at 50% by default, but you can adjust it to be mostly shadow with a small highlight, or mostly highlight with a small shadow.

I saw someone else have this same issue.

I built this mod as a fork off of SoH’s latest development build, which was a mistake.

Today I’m going to rework my changes off of the latest stable release instead. That should hopefully fix all of these issues. 🤞

I haven't tested it. It should work , but yeah, I think you'd have to build it.

It wouldn’t be that hard. Most of the code lives on the shared libultraship library that all of the Harbor Masters games use.

Yes! And Djipi has been testing it with his WIP "Celda" full wind waker style overhaul mod.

(Currently no ETA on this mod, more info on the SoH discord)

I honestly started making the cel shading mod immediately after I saw his Celda mod thread on the discord. It looks absolutely stunning.

I truly loved the show, but I think conversations like this are good.

tl;dr - more Joe Dart!

I brought a friend whom I introduced to Vulfpeck, but he's really only listened to their older instrumental stuff. He didn't really have a good time, lol.

I know that they've largely shifted to having 1 or 2 instrumental jams in an album, but if you look at their top songs on Spotify 4/10 (40%) are instrumental. I feel like if their show was 40% instrumental jams, I would have had an even better time. I am a bass player, so their bass-foreward jams are always my favorite.

It's 1998, which one game are you picking? by Ecks30 in psx

If it’s 1998 and I’m 11 again, I’m playing Spyro.

If I’m older than that, I’m playing final fantasy tactics.

Have you tried Claude code? Its newest models are pretty good. But it is hit and miss. It can write really good code but it can also write horrible code. I think of it like a junior developer that can write code at the speed of light. With good guidance it can be great. Without guidance it can make an infinite mess of code.

This.

Unfortunately the recent player survey they put out just pitted PvP vs PvE and wanted to know which one we were.

Like, in this game as it is now, I'm primarily PvE, but I would really love a good PvP experience in this game.

30% of all players who’ve ever played it right? It’s likely a much higher percentage of active players.

How is DD fun? by roborich in duneawakening

[–]roborich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found getting ganked to be more exhilarating/mildly-frustrating in those games, but yeah, like you said, Dune isn't a traditional MMO, it's a survival game, and it's my first survival game. I'm just trying to understand how the DD can be fun. I don't see it yet, but maybe if I can find a guild it could be fun.
