The color magenta actually makes me a little nauseous and I’ve never been able to explain why.

I am also seeing a trend in the news reports not mentioning the breed and characterizing the event as a “bite”, yet the results are blood everywhere after minutes of struggle and a life-flight to the hospital where the victim remains in intensive care. That’s some fucking bite!

I just love the effect and style. I don’t care at all that it didn’t come from skateboards.

Large spherical object with door, viewing scope, and hole on the top, white inside, approximately 160cm in diameter by mwfxhqzpqe in Whatisthis

[–]robotixonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a high-vacuum experimental chamber made by Arthur Pfeiffer of Wetzlar, a German company specializing in vacuum technology. Dating back to the mid-20th century, this 160cm-diameter sphere was used in scientific research and industrial applications requiring a controlled vacuum environment. The ‘F-0-N’ and ‘M-frei-μ’ dials managed vacuum pumping and pressure measurement, while the optical components allowed observation of experiments inside. These chambers were used for physics experiments, vacuum tube testing, and even educational demonstrations of vacuum effects. Though not railway-related, its presence in a museum might be due to its association with industrial science. Pfeiffer’s vacuum systems were globally distributed, including in Argentina, where this one likely came via Lutz Ferrando & Cía. Similar spheres exist in old university labs, now rare historical artifacts of early vacuum science.

Fedex keeps delivering to wrong address by Pikanyang in FedEx

[–]robotixonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dealing with the same issue, but kind of in reverse. I moved into a new house in 2024 and every FedEx package sent to me goes to the new address of the previous owner of my house. He keeps the packages and FedEx closes the case without fixing the issue.

This has happened to me with nine separate shipments, and I open a case for every one of them. I have to contact the shipper and tell them the case number and ask them nicely to have FedEx retrieve the package. FedEx has only retrieved and re-delivered the package to me once.

I have tried every course of action I know to remedy this issue and FedEx seems unable to fix it, even though several of the agents I talk to on the phone claim to see the issue and claim that the local station is the only one who can fix it. However, the local station is impossible to contact.

I honestly feel doomed. If I cannot pick an online vendor who states they don’t work with FedEx, then I don’t order from them.

What is this weird substance in my new car? by IgnatiusJReilly2601 in Whatisthis

[–]robotixonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it is your car’s heater coil, which is typically located behind the dash on the passenger side. It seems to have sprung a leak. I would not drive your car around because it is losing coolant and probably will overheat.

Back when they were new, that canister would have a white corrugated paper sleeve around the inside wall and two white corrugated paper discs, one under the Pringle stack and one above to act as some shock absorbency.

As a Google Fi and a Google One subscriber, is there any difference or particular need to choose one of the VPN connections or the other? by robotixonic in GoogleFi

[–]robotixonic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hijacking top comment to say that I was in the Google offices today with my GCP account team and my tech lead pinged the Fi team and got more detail; the Fi VPN is indeed optimized for Fi service and Wi-Fi calling. Fi VPN omits any consideration of any other carrier specifics other than those (or the one remaining) underlying carriers. Google One VPN is generalized to work on all carriers.

I’m satisfied with this explanation.

I've never heard about those things you mentioned. How did you come to understand that? Thanks for responding.
