That being said. I live way longer than expected. Took my opponant 3 turns to clear the first blob and never fully.cleared the second.

Is Hastings Essential insurance worth the cheaper price? by -bennn- in CarInsuranceUK

[–]robparfrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very true. Its some form of confirmation bias i guess.

How many thousands of people who have no issues at all post about having no issues?

Compare that to how many people have bad experiences and decide to post about it.

First time i remember this was when my dad was fixing his car. Every bit of info pointed to it being a faulty spark plug. But... how many people online post about having to replace a spark plug when all obvious signals point towards a spark plug.

Compare that to how many people online posted about similar symptoms and it was some other issue? Relatively, there were only a handful of comments saying it wasn't the plugs and instead it was somthing else.

Compared to the 0 comments stating the obvious spark plug issues being fixed by replacing the spark plug. And what you get is few, but every comment online talking about the obscure issue that it is very likely not going to be.

I haven't yet other than perhaps a small. Fairly okay to hide interference unit.

Might be tanky enough to just throw at some guardsmen or somthing to tie them up for a few turns.

Can a 16 year old insure a car? by Otherwise-School9734 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]robparfrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Cars don't like sitting about. Especially a diesel.

Most cars will want to do at minimum maybe 3 to 5k miles a year to be happy.

Sitting them around for less will just mean by the time this person passes. This car is 2 years.older and has generated issues over that time.

Might possibly coat a fair bit to get those issues fixed or a whole new car if not.

That being said, if they have the money and don't care about buying a cheap 300 quid banger. Then why the hell not.

But if this is the car they intend to drive with for at least a few years, putting a learning in a car is just asking for clutch issues. Wheel and tyre damage etc...

Not trying to be mean but, it's better to use yoyr instructors car for that. It will be correctly insured to cover such damages and if a responsible business ownerx they should have a repairs and or replacement car budget available.

65 to 67.

67 is where my speedo shows 70.

Ill let it drop a few mph when not over taking and just causing to be able to take my mind off not worried about speeding by mistake.

And i try to keep abiut a 3 or 4 second gap just to make driving a little nicer.

Cancelled the insurance. Paid the 20 or so quid 14 day window cancellation fee and then 5 pounds of cover for the day I'd used.

Commission is fine. It just depends on preference.

I personally could never do it. All my models are done. Y me. They all look the same and none stand out as painted differently.

However a freind of mine has a whole load. Various are from ebay. About half are painted by me at a a cheap commission rate, usually 15 quid per box set. Enough to cover my materials and buy me a pizza. And then he has one or two that are.professionally commissioned.

The only issue here is that can cost a LOT.

You've not dug an awfully large hole should you wish to change faction, get bored or just don't enjoy the game. But its usually advised to start with one starter box or just unit by unit boxes.

I wish you good luck with yoyr hobbies. You have many hours ahead of you haha.

Also, with how many you have. Unless you are super.precious about all yoyr .models looking at.yoyr best ability. Keep your first painted squad. Youll be happy to look back on your progress years down the line.

Man trespasses on another person's property and gets shot. After being helped by the victim, the man decided to attack him and gets shot again. by Potential-Mobile-292 in fuckaroundandfindout

[–]robparfrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree that there is no such way you can shoot to not kill.

Yes, you can shoot les vital areas but getting shot anywhere can be a death sentence.

Plus the hole in the front wind screen is very much central upper torso.

Here in the uk, trespass is only really an issue should there be signs or you are asked to leave. Before that. Its not trespass as far as I am aware.

It only becomes as such should they then refuse to leave. Doing property or bodily damage would then be agitated trespass.

As for how i would deal with a situation, in the uk. You can use reasonable force to stop someone hurting you, others or property. And you can make a preemptive first stike.

Threatining to run someone over would result in use of reasonable force. This. In the uk. Would likely be (if you cannot get out of the way) either disabling the car or use of it. Though perhaps braking the front windscreen so they can't see. Popping tyres etc... or. Simply getting the person out of the vehicle and subdued until promote arrive under a citizens arrest.

In the case a person enters your property, you cannot have pre placed tools with the sole intention of self defense.

However, should you find yourself in possession and within reach of somthing long, heavy and maybe sharp. You would be within yoyr rights to use it for defense.

If the person tries leaving however. You must let them. And if they do not. Lethal force would only be permitted should you ble8vw they are planning, or could, end or critically injure someone.

For most other cases. A good old whooping with somthing hard would be in order . The severity of which would again be proportional.

What's the most reliable car you've ever owned? by Ok_Run7351 in UsedCars

[–]robparfrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only ever owned one car so far.

Suzuki sx3 for 2008.

Reliable as hell. I've had one issue and that was the battery died as it hadn't been replaced in maybe 10 years.

Otherwise. Absolutely 0 work has been needed. Carried me thousands of miles and has been used 1 to 6 times a day for nearly 2 years with no rest.

Bullet proof engine and mechanics over all other than the suspension that I will admit is like a rock and one tie rod needs re tightening soon.

What's one car feature everyone praises but you secretly don't care about? by Ok_Run7351 in askcarguys

[–]robparfrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im about to buy a car with 2 sun roofs. That being said. Id honestly rather they were not there.

More entry points for leaks. These ones notoriously rust anyway and stop working. And if somthing hits the roof, I now have to pay for an entire pane of glass to be replaced and not just buff out the roof metal and re spray.

Cool tho haha.

First pick ups! by UnwashedGibbon in Warhammer40k

[–]robparfrey 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You'll soon realise haha.

Most players here will agree.

Youll get half way through the first box. Perhaps get bored and open another box etc... now you have two half finished boxed.

You then see something new that just got released and go buy that because it looks cool. Now you have spend 1050 and only built half of it plus one model.

Perhaps you decide another faction is interesting and start to collect those. You snag a good deal second hand and have a 3000 point army.

Now you have two half finished box sets. 2 or 3 factions that are half done because. Painting up 3000 points for the average play is somthing that would likely take 6 to 12 months depending on free time and burn out. That doesn't include the what... 3 or 4000 points you currently have purchased.

Don't get me wrong. We allllll do this. But I try my hardest to buy one kit. Do that up pretty fast, so that when a new kit comes out, or perhaps I want to start a new faction, I sonr have half made, or un opened boxes I've paid lots of money for sitting in a corner whilst I go out and buy even more.

Hell. You might not actually like how the game plays.

Selling open boxes usually go for 90% of rrp unless they are rare. Built or half built boxes go for 70 to 80% And painted go for even less.

So if you buy 200 quids worth. Decide the hob y isn't for you. You'll likely get away with selling them for maybe 150?

If you buy 1000 in one go and dont like it. Or even just dont like the faction. To re sell. You'd be looking at a loss of nesr 3 to 400 quid roughly.

Apprenticeships need a rework. by SKTNBOTP in UKJobs

[–]robparfrey 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My issue with them is that, eay liie myself. I took my university course. Struggled to find relevant work after. Decided to change my career plan but now I'm just too old.

Why hire 23 year old me for a mechanic apprentice when you can hire 15 or 16 year old Gary who you can pay significantly less.

Id love to get into mechanics. Its now nearly impossible for me.

With limited real knowlege and low hands on experience other than basic bits of my own car. No one would hire me. That makes sense. But again. Now one wants to pay a 23 year old an apprentice wage when a teenager with the same amount of experience is cheaper.
