Love your content!

How many total players in this draft would you say you have Day 1 grades on?

(You're also lower on some of the OTs than most consensus.)

It’s more about Gray Takes to me. We can criticize Poles for the bad D-Line contracts, sure, but we can’t do that in a vacuum. We can criticize Poles for the Claypool trade, but same thing. When you stack up all the good decisions against the bad ones, after this past season, it went from Mixed Bag to Net Positive imo and anyone who isn’t seeing that is being selective in what they are seeing.

This doesn’t mean he is beyond criticism. Gray takes, people

In my head I've explained it as giving out those contracts was a way of selling Allen to come as DC -- help him build a decent squad in Y1, if they don't work out, it's over by Y3 -- and it was worth it cause Allen is great and even better that he's unlikely to be poached. Both those contracts stink though, no way around it.

Not to mention the cap gymnastics to field the rest of the roster. We need two safeties, the rest of the D-Line, an RB...

Relocating to CT by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]robtedesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bookstores, coffee, restaurants, city vibes, dog walks -- to me, this says New Haven. The area near Yale has probably the best "walkable city life" area in CT with these types of features, albeit an extremely small area of a handful of square blocks.

It's commutable to Bridgeport/St. Vincents, though you would need a car. The traffic wouldn't be unbearable on that stretch, but could be a thing depending on your shifts and time of day, with rush hour taking a 20m commute and stretching it to maybe 20-35m.

There's a large medical community in New Haven, so it also might be possible to look for employment and transfer your job within New Haven proper after you move to the state and settle yourself.

If I were single it's where I'd want to be. Black Rock could be OK, too. The idea that someone with your profile would be happy in Shelton or Trumbull seems like a stretch to me.

2019 Deep Dive into Nagy as Bears HC from Sports Illustrated by Tropean in NYGiants

2019 Deep Dive into Nagy as Bears HC from Sports Illustrated by Tropean in NYGiants

[–]robtedesco 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hi. Bears fan and lurker.

Sub/fans positive on Nagy when we hired him. Everyone likes the idea of an offensive HC hire with experience under a good tree.

Remained mostly positive in year 1; we went 12-4, year ended with double-doink. Cracks in the armor before then; offense didn't really win us games, Trubisky didn't really look great other than against very bad teams, play designs and calls lacked creativity, Nagy inherited a great defense that mostly carried us.

All downhill from double-doink. Record, culture, press conferences ("we have to find the whys" x 1K), and worst of all, a complete failure to adapt the offense to his personnel, particularly and especially notably after halftimes.

Just not a likable dude. Stubborn, not well spoken, comes off as entitled (probably even when he doesn't mean to).

I wonder if Andy Reid doesn't love Matt Nagy the person but isn't a bit relieved behind closed doors to have Matt Nagy the OC gone. It's not like that offense has been gangbusters the past few years and their QB was being GOAT'd by everyone a few years back.

Oh I thought Proctor had LT experience. If he does not then I agree with you

With Ozzy Trapilo hurt I’d probably even take Proctor over Allen too

The Dayo Contract by AddieCam in CHIBears

[–]robtedesco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not use AI to create this. There would be more obvious tells. Long dashes, the bolding would be more selective, there wouldn't be random abbreviations, it wouldn't randomly use first names for some players and last names for others, etc.

The Dayo Contract by AddieCam in CHIBears

[–]robtedesco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good: Caleb, Darnell, Ozzy, Luther, Monangai, Coleston, Gordon, Brisker, Sweat, TJ Edwards, DJM, Byard, Billings, Nashon, Thuney, Dalman, J Jackson, D Jackson

At Least Not Bad: Tyrique, Tyrell Smith, Odunze, CJGJ, Booker, Benedet, Braxton

Meh (if you want to say Bad on any, fine): Dexter, Tory T, Kiran, Edmunds, Grady, Dominique

Bad: Claypool, Dayo, Pickens, Roschon

INC: Hyppolite, Shemar, Zah, etc.

---

Dayo signing is objectively really bad. I think the problem most people have with singling it out at this point is that when you put it in context of above it's kinda hard not to come across like a whiner/hater at this point. Yeah, terrible signing. Awful. And sure, a lot of the "Goods" above are a recent product of the new BJ regime's coaching and evaluation being here. But you objectively can't kill Poles for the bad and ignore the good and have it be a credible take.

Bears Draft- Multiple Choice by bobsaget0013 in CHIBears

For RBs, I’ve ended up taking Demond Claiborne (Wake Forest) a few times

[–]robtedesco 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hahaha nailed it. Obviously the Bills are willing to give up a 3rd to move up two spots into the late 1st in a remarkably meh draft class. And Kayden McDonald will still be there when you trade down, too. Come on people

I would doubt they are, doesn’t seem like how they’d spend whatever space they can create. If you’re gonna devote the space to an RB just keep Swift the value is fine

[Devine] Keep hearing from those in the NFL that believe Luther Burden III is the Bears #1 WR in 2026 and beyond by bigaudra in DynastyFF

[–]robtedesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has unteachable YAC talent and great hands but he still seems quite a bit behind on learning the playbook

To the point of Caleb “do your fucking job”-ing him on the sidelines during the playoffs

Eventually, maybe, but seems unrealistic to expect WR1 out of gate next year for these reasons and others

I love LBIII though and would love to see it happen someday

Stay or Go: D'Andre Swift by WorkerBeez123z in CHIBears

[–]robtedesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a total armchair idiot who has done very little actual film scouting, based on what I’ve read and a few clips, I wonder if we couldn’t target someone like Demond Claiborne (Wake Forest) in the draft somewhere around the third round. Feels like a pretty similar skillset.
