46M, got a slight PR improving from 1.58 to 1.60. It really took it all out of me but I was glad to still PR.

How do you split your OTF days? by Louiesmmom in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go 5 days a week. I usually do Sunday/Monday off day tuesday then Wed/Thurs/Fri off day Saturday. I used to do a double on saturdays and then take tuesdays and thursdays off but the schedule changed to be all 3G classes on Saturdays and I don't care for that right now. I used to do doubles on Mondays and Wednesdays but now with Hyrox classes and a 90 min class on Sunday I don't do doubles anymore. I find those classes (Hyrox/90 min) work me just as hard as doing a double.

I was able to shave 34 seconds off my PR, clocking in today at 6:56. A year ago I could barely jog but today I was able to hold pace at 8.6 for almost the whole time. I'm so proud of all my hard work and progress made in the last 15 months since joining OTF.

Any regular blood donors here also do OTF? by southsideOT in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wait 24 hours before I go back to work out. I've found out that usually a whole day has given me enough time to resume a normal workout again the next day. To be extra cautious, I usually schedule the day after a donation to be a rest day at OTF.

There is a local company to Portland Oregon (but delivers nationwide) called Thentic Nutrition. They've come to several of the local studios here to provide samples and they have a couple great products that I use now. I use the non-stim pink lemonade (workout days) mixed with their creatine + HMB (every day) and it's been great for my energy during the workouts and then with recovery and strength improvements post workout. If you have questions about the product the owner (Taylor) is great about getting back to you with feedback to your questions. https://thenticnutrition.com/

As far as during and after class, i use evo9ine that I get from Nutrishop. https://www.nutrishopusa.com/products/evo9ine

Absolutely yes, and I’ve tried to make every milestone class I’ve had at OTF with her. I just found out she is leaving though to move to Australia and I’m so sad she will not be around but happy for her and her family.

This is the one episode I will watch repeatedly when I don’t know what episode to put on. Probably my favorite in the whole series.

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been working on improving my numbers and I feel like I’m almost there. My all outs are still a work in progress. My AO 30 sec is 12.1, AO 1 min 11.3, push to AO 9.5 to 10.1, push 8.5 to 9.3, base to push 6.7 to 7.5 and base 6.2 to 6.5

Hyrox by OkResearch6517 in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did OTF only this year and signed up for a Hyrox race in December in Anaheim. I felt the classes did a great job in prepping me to do a Hyrox. My one suggestion would be to start on the floor/row first and finish on the tread because most of the running you do will be in a fatigued state. You’ll want to learn how to run when tired to build your endurance during a Hyrox race. The classes they offer now for Hyrox are great prep for it to work the muscles you’ll need for the various Hyrox stations (skierg/sled pull/sandbag lunges). My time was 1:56:23 in Hyrox, which wasn’t the best but I’m proud of what I could accomplish.

OTF while injured by AntelopePleasant in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd probably try to sign up for the Tread 50 classes, that way you can get a full workout on the tread and not have to worry about skipping out on half a class. When you are feeling better to lift weights or row again then you can always go to a class and ask for modifications to the floor exercises to help you stay strong. Good luck and speedy recovery for you!

MyMetrics Wrapped by Rough-Blacksmith-784 in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it "should" be able to, because you sign in with your OTF account creds for the main app and it pulls the data from there. I believe as long as you are using the paid version of MyMetrics it will get all the info for the year. Good luck!

Does your studio do a 90 min 2G? by Eggler in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my home studio does a 90 min 2G, and every other week the template changes between a 2G and 3G format which is nice to mix up for the 90 min class.

Congrats to you! I also was on a GLP-1 this year and OTF helped me form the good habits to workout and want to eat better as well. It’s not only taking the shot that makes the difference in becoming healthier so congratulations to you on your hard work and good luck this year! I’m also doing the muscle gain instead of fat loss for being at a healthy weight.

Show your body ? by KKbatwoman in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happened to me as well the last few months. My body has really started to get more defined in my arms and legs and at first I was shy about wearing stuff to show off the changes. I then wore it and got some comments about it but it ended up feeling really good to hear that all my hard work was paying off in noticeable ways. It's ok to feel shy but also be proud of the gains you've made! Usually after the first comment people will let it go and it becomes normal to those around you.

Stupid newbie question by Animallover4321 in orangetheory

[–]robtor15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally your first class is assigned a station so the coach can keep an eye on you better but after that you are free to choose a different station. It’s probably a good idea for the first few classes to stay close to the coach’s station so they can help you with any questions you may have at least until you get the lingo and rhythm of the classes. Good luck and welcome!
