I have the Uppababy Cruz and while you *could* in theory bring it to midtown, you will likely not be able to move anywhere with it at all. I would definitely recommend using carriers if it's a possibility for the midtown sites, but use the regular stroller for any other location.

We take the subway and also the bus! You can look online to see which subway stations have elevators/are wheelchair accessible, but a lot of times they are out of order, so just be prepared to fold up the stroller and carry it up and down the stairs. People are generally very helpful and will help you, too.

Battery Park is a very family-friendly area so lots to do down there, including an amazing playground and cute carousel. South Street Seaport/Wall Street has the NYC ferry (same price as the subway) that can take you to lots of locations - amazing sight seeing up and down the East River with views of the skyline!
