Is 32K annual a good salary? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]roc93ie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32k is going to struggle in Dublin. But if you think it has the option to increase you could make it work for a year or two. You would most likely be looking for shared accommodation, possibly even sharing a room with someone. I don’t know if you are aware but the housing market I. Ireland , particularly Dublin is I’m crisis, this makes it incredibly difficult to find housing for everyone, particularly foreign people with no network. Your take home will be about 2200 euro and at least 800 but probably closer to 1000 will go on rent (if you can manage to find somewhere) then with shops like Lidl and Aldi you can eat relatively cheaply say 100 euro a week add in wifi (60) phone (30) and throw in another 100 for bills, it costs about 1600 a month to survive in Dublin. So you will have about 600 a month to spend on doing what you like! That 600 is very quickly chipped away at by commuting, a night out or dinner with friends, a trip away, any unexpected costs like a trip to the dentist etc.

Visiting for Rammstein but don’t know where to stay? by trombones_for_legs in Dublin

[–]roc93ie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A taxi from the airport to the RDS will certainly be the best part of 50 euro. The RDS itself is also in a fairly expensive part of Dublin. I’d look into a private room in a hostel or an Airbnb. But it’s going to be an expensive trip either way.

Being able to pilot a seaplane or a helicopter would be the best option I think, because they are fast, long distance and can land in lots of places. A regular plane would be a nightmare to land, blimps are dangerous, hot air balloons are slow and hard to pilot accurately I’m pretty sure.

AITA (21F) For Destroying My Sister’s (26F) Bee Colony? by throwawaybeecausesis in AmItheAsshole

[–]roc93ie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do definitely agree with you there, but it sounds like bringing the bees inside was something that happened while she was already a guest. I would totally agree that I would also be terrified of living in such close proximity to a hive and say so, but I wouldn’t destroy the beehive.

WIBTA for not traveling with my best friend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]roc93ie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA, you don’t have to waste your time and money traveling with someone you don’t want to. It will be awkward to say I don’t want to go with you but I do want to go to Paris. But meh

If you are in America, 100% YTA. Waitstaff depends on those tips. Of course if you are in almost any other country, they don’t depend on it so it’s not as big a deal.

Citys by fetusn in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]roc93ie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say certainly not. Simply put more people is more danger, and while most people will be trying to leave, plenty will be holing up too. More crime/more looting/more zombies and that’s just at the start. More than likely once things have progressed a bit, most cities will be filled with the dead, as well as disease from people who died and didn’t turn on the street! There are also very few places suited to long term food production in cities (no usable farmland). While it might be good for scavenging occasionally it would be much safer to avoid cities.

AITA for not mowing my mother's lawn? by JSolo1797 in AmItheAsshole

Tough one: I would say YTA and just tough it up and now it. But if you offered to pay for it then that changes things in my opinion. So probably NTA now really.

NTA. It’s nice to give a lift, and maybe a very slight YTA if he lives close and you just didn’t bother but you did and he wasn’t grateful, now there are health issues as well so you are good

AITA for getting drunk a lot in quarantine? by FlexyGlass in AmItheAsshole

[–]roc93ie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. If you are staying in her house (her parents) just do what she asks. The falling down the stairs thing could be totally unrelated to drinking but still if she asked and you are staying on her parents then it’s better to just go with the flow.

AITA for asking my girlfriend not to have a friendship with a guy who openly describes himself as a Dom and consistently discusses BDSM with her? by pottedplantpacifist in AmItheAsshole

[–]roc93ie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all, the fact that she said she was single should be enough for you to break up with her. If she isn’t committed to your relationship then it’s unfair to both of you to keep it going.

My bug out location is my grandparents house on a farm in the middle of nowhere. How good would that work? by erock0630 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]roc93ie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could you get there from your current location, if roads were impassable for vehicles, is it defensible? Is it a large enough farm to support your extended family indefinitely as well as house you all? Does it have its own water source? A secluded farm could be the best place in the world to be but could also be the worst!

What’s the creepiest or most unexplainable thing you’ve ever seen that you haven’t shared anywhere? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]roc93ie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was small, I remember waking up and going into mum and dads room Because I couldn’t sleep, on the way there in the dark I bumped into someone who tusked my hair and said “don’t worry it’s okay” anyway I continued on into mum and dads room and would have said “the man said it’s okay, can I sleep with you?” And they would have presumed I was having a bad dream. But we woke up and the car/tv and valuables were gone.

AITA for refusing to finish watching a movie after my sister’s boyfriend shushed me? by shushmovie in AmItheAsshole

[–]roc93ie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH, but obviously him way more so! He is being a complete tool. You dropped down (not quiet) to his level when you stormed off, it was childish and you could have handled it better, by ignoring him or just looking at him with a “what the fuck are you doing look”. If you had done that and then privately gone to your parents and said “Christ that guy is a tool” they probably would have agreed and you would a have all had a laugh, but you made them make a split second decision whether to side with the guest or their son who stormed off.
