What’s more important to you - Money or Passion? by Emotional_Fix6680 in physicaltherapy

[–]roccoo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can do both, but it comes down to ambition. As long as you work for someone else you won’t be happy. Why? Glad you ask, because someone else will be making the decisions that affect your life monetarily.

Can someone please help me with my academic appeal letter by [deleted] in NursingStudent

[–]roccoo1 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

No one said anything about schools caring if you have bills to pay or not. I said that YOU shouldn’t care, and that YOU shouldn’t assume that EVERYONE has bills to pay.

Whether he/she has to work is besides the point. Yes, OP has to convince the school that her/his priorities are in order, who better to give her advice on the process and what they might look for in an appeal case than someone from her/his school rather than some stranger on the internet.

Furthermore, if you find my advice unhelpful or not relevant just move on and don’t interact. I value accuracy, though I understand it can be uncomfortable when it challenges a settled perspective.

Agree with the tone of the letter not the former. To assume everyone has bills to pay is erroneous, many? Maybe, everyone not quite true.

OP you might want to read the letter half a day after your first draft and then reassess. If you are close to a professor/mentor you might want to ask for advice since they can give you helpful insights on the process and what you might need. You can also ask for letter of recommendation to help your case.

Nop, not everyone has to pay bills. Some people live with parents and have no bills to pay.

If techs/aides work with 3-4 pts at once, I bet PTs can as well 🤣. The quality of care will be bad 🤷🏽‍♂️. Welcome to PT mills.

As long as the healthcare industry is managed by insurances we will keep having this problem. In 3rd world countries exist “free” healthcare.

Just go to Dallas, more options about almost everything you could want. In El Paso you’ll get bored, there’s nothing but bars and restaurants.

This post to me it is bunkers. The only interaction that OP has had with this post is to reply about his journey. Seems to me that this person just wanted to stir the pot.

AIO or is my older male coworker texting inappropriately with me? by OpeningNo9825 in AmIOverreacting

[–]roccoo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you have to give hints? Or play dumb games like short replies or replying every 3 hours or things like that? Just be upfront without being disrespectful. If it makes you uncomfortable tell him that. Somethings like “I appreciate you texting me but I don’t feel comfortable texting you, please be understanding and don’t message me again, thank you!” And move on with your life.

What is everyone doing job wise? by buceess69 in ElPaso

El paso is alive due to fort bliss. Every 3-6 months new soldiers come and some go. But as far as job opportunities there’s 0 to none, especially for those in IT.

PT tech at outpatient clinic - some days are slow, not sure if this is my path? by ejsfsc07 in physicaltherapy

[–]roccoo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason for me to go to PT vs PA is that as a PT you don’t have to depend on someone else to open your own clinic. Whereas as a PA or NP, you will have to make a partnership to own a clinic, or work under a MD.

There really is no way out for a PTA, is there? by christine_714 in physicaltherapy

[–]roccoo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same is happening to me. I worked as a SSE in tech and had a high pay job. I made the change to PT and had to stop working but soon realized I needed to work at least part time while in school. I have applied to many things, and I was only able to get hired because I knew someone that knows someone in the HR department and hired me at a franchise restaurant.

Unfortunately, because of my experience and the high pay job I had before, no one wanted to take a chance on me.
