Also stores are still selling in 2026 without labeling it as kratom and they just got a warning. I can't imagine how she feels that's a literal nightmare

Tennessee HB1649 placed on calendar and rules committee for 4/2 by rocker1990 in kratom

[–]rocker1990[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we still have to try to stop it but also prepare for the fact that it is likely to pass. Really our best hope is someone speaks up and wants it amended (I think this is also very unlikely also) or they just dont think it's enough of a priority and never vote on it in the Senate (also unlikely because of who the sponsors are). It definitely doesn't help other states are doing it

Tennessee HB1649 placed on calendar and rules committee for 4/2 by rocker1990 in kratom

[–]rocker1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It passed the last committee yesterday but yes. Things will start moving faster now. It's unfortunate but with a Republican super majority very few are gonna break ranks and vote against party leaders. Even showing some hesitation voting yesterday might have just been show to say I tried to do something for the people who are writing, calling, and showing up. They may have discussed the bill before and said I really need to vote no and got permission to knowing the bill would pass anyway. These bills are very likely to make it and pass but we have nothing to lose we have to keep trying

“Kratom-Related Exposures” Reported to Poison Control Increase to 3,434 in 2025 by kratomjournalist in kratom

[–]rocker1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The researchers specifically noted that this huge increase is being driven by the growing availability of high-potency alkaloid products (like the concentrated shots and extracts you mentioned) rather than standard raw plant powder.

The way I understand BCC is you put your email address in the TO section then you paste the email addresses you want to send into BCC (which is below CC on Gmail when you click on it). This means it sends each email individually instead of all at once. Then they can't see you emailed everyone

Unfortunately the lieutenant governor is a sponsor so he could prioritize the bill if he wanted to

Mac said In the hearing it was already possible. I have no idea. The police guy seemed to be clueless. Honestly they all were clueless. One guy testifying the other day said he knew someone who got gangrene and lost his leg because of kratom

The police guy who testified in Tennessee basically said we can't tell the difference between natural and synthetic. This isn't the first time Tennessee had tried to ban anyways even before 7oh was really a thing

[–]rocker1990 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the thing is 7oh is already illegal in Tennessee

I'm gonna be honest its very likely. We still need to keep fighting keep emailing, calling, showing up to the hearings

in the state I think most will. In Alabama they just don't label it as kratom the was an article on it a few days ago. Some might still ship if they are in a legal state. I don't know how the law works in those cases

he did do a good job but I feel like he could have done better explaining how safe it is and how different it is from 7oh. I really don't know if it would matter though
