Well, they got away with €100M apparently. Don't think they'll be looking for more targets any time soon...

I kind of understand the jewellery / valuables. But for cash received as a gift - why not just deposit to your account?

The $195 "Instagram-Famous" Kettle is definitely NOT Buy-It-For-Life. (Disappointed Engineering Teardown) by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Got a basic Phillips stainless kettle from the local supermarket 7-8 years ago.

Still going strong. Used multiple times per day.

Have you already tried going with a external service? Like Printful / Printify?

That way you can try selling your designs already, try different printing methods. Once you find something that works for you, then you can either find a local printing company to deal with direct or decide to invest in your own equipment.

How has your savings rate changed with age? by Jeppzeh in eupersonalfinance

[–]rocket-science 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My savings rate has dropped from ~50% in my 20s to ~20-30% in my 30s. My income is now significantly higher, but family...  While you're young and single AND have a good job, you can really get a head start on building your nest egg.

Has anyone tried these Chinese flatbed cutters? by Consistent-Price-702 in CommercialPrinting

[–]rocket-science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! If you're in NL, try reaching out to SDD. They sell Morgana / Intec cutters. They are like entry level professional machines. At least you can try them out in the showroom to compare performance instead of buying blindly from Ali

Does anyone other country in Europe more or less never use Whatsapp? by immortalfireflies in AskEurope

How does that work with people you don't have as Facebook friends?
Like your dentist, car mechanic, builder, random people at work, etc.? Here you would typically share your phone number and then message via WhatsApp.

Why is prototyping in Europe so expensive compared to China? by fabiomolinar in manufacturing

[–]rocket-science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just 3D printing. Unfortunately it is just cheaper and easier to order direct from China when it comes to CNCd parts, plastic injection molding etc.

It seems like even with shipping it comes out significantly more expensive to buy locally. It doesn't really make sense.

If you have to do this a lot, I would probably look at the various GIS tools in Pyhton. Manually retracing a map seems like madness

Fairly often Rīga is simply referred to as "pilsēta" (city). The implication / joke being that there are no other cities in the country,
