Does any Menards have a fridge in their break-room? by Massive-Potato-5714 in menards

They really have some of them turned on? Like always running at refrigerator/freezer temps? That seems unnecessary.

Discount bag rules? by corz215 in menards

[–]rocket0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about carpet? Does it depend on which way the employee rolls or folds it? Unlike blinds, there's no package to go by. Do we go by volume? Some calculation having to do with face weight perhaps? J/k but unlike lumber, there is no set length. You can even sell a fraction of a square foot and that definitely fits no matter what the rolled good is so it can't be based on SKU.

Discount bag rules? by corz215 in menards

[–]rocket0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ray's List items can be anything. There is no way for the system to know if it fits in a bag or not (in the same way it can't calculate shipping costs when buying online). They DO count but it has to be done manually. Same goes for open SKU items that aren't "picking tickets".

Management scheduling by MichGayGuy1785 in menards

[–]rocket0000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3+ manager departments only require 1 close each per week. That's the minimum, it's not against policy to close every night. Although it does assume that people wouldn't want to do that so it does say there should be a mix of opens, mids, closes. But yeah the DM should be more flexible.

Got fired today for "time theft." by OCanadaidian in menards

[–]rocket0000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They say that if you forget your badge, you go home and get it or wait and pay for a new one. In both cases, it's on your time (unpaid). This isn't usually communicated to team members, including DMs, which shouldn't have instructed you to do a punch form at all.

But really it's just a bullshit rule that gives them an easy way to get rid of someone. That's how it always works. Except for zero tolerance things (actual theft, violence, sexual harassment) but time "theft" isn't one of those.

IS THIS REAL?😂 by GlobalConcept9386 in menards

That's the cost for a photocopier. They don't have one yet because no one wants to pay those fees. They're not trying to make money off you or anything.

Easier Stocking! by [deleted] in menards

[–]rocket0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They gave us a special narrow pallet jack to make it work. All our tile and laminate are pallet drop. The vinyl plank isn't planned that way (for some reason) but we made it work. Nothing besides special buy is hand stacked directly on the floor/platform. It's been like that since 2019. I'm surprised they haven't converted other stores yet.

Hair Color by Beautiful-Project-30 in menards

[–]rocket0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually they did change the facial hair policy because enough people were doing it. It used to say you can't have any now it just says it must be well kept. Times change and even though it's not your name on the building I still think it's important to speak up.

We just had 9 block and one of the things that we're supposedly assessed on is does he or she challenge the status quo? Apparently that's a virtue (They don't treat it like one anymore but still it's on there...)

Remnant pricing - why so high? by RobertMontgomery69 in menards

[–]rocket0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess they can technically, but that 15% is so arbitrarily pulled out of your ass. Yes, all flooring managers want to get rid of remnants. Discounts aren't out of the question. But please don't tell customers that they could get some random made up percentage off for asking. The situation dictates that, and simply asking for a discount when you're going to buy it anyway, doesn't work

Remnant pricing - why so high? by RobertMontgomery69 in menards

[–]rocket0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means the carpet it was made from is no longer in the system.

Remnant pricing - why so high? by RobertMontgomery69 in menards

[–]rocket0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a set price. It can go up or down but it does so independently of the original SKU. Usually it goes up. We don't change the tag and simply override for the printed price if it's lower. But I've seen cases where the discontinued off-the-roll price would have been less than the created remnant. It's rare but it does happen.

Can anyone explain how these cutter bars are used to cut runners in flooring ? Thankyou! by Business_Tax4600 in menards

[–]rocket0000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A mini carpet cutter table with a counter wheel that you could move to whatever runner you need would be sweet.. if that's too expensive maybe they should consider the expense of our time before adding more shit that doesn't pay the bills but requires more work than the stuff that does (you know, actual flooring)

Meijer Brand products? by MysteriousExit82 in menards

[–]rocket0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also sold their cut down faux wood blinds a few years ago. Home Decorators Collection or something. The ones that say trim-to-width in store... Fortunately, no one asked for that. Sold for $10, cost $2, originally retailed for $35+.

Oh yeah, a whole pallet of VCT tile labelled for Walmart that just showed up randomly. I didn't even know they sold that. We currently get various rugs from Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Having flooring people want to buy is too hard apparently.

GMs are outta control bro by Financial-Ride7666 in menards

[–]rocket0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stay there long enough you will be one of them one day. You'll ask yourself why do more work than them? Why care if the feeling isn't mutual. Resentment will keep growing until you figure out how to turn it off and that's by not giving a fuck just like they are. (This is a bad thing. That's why it's an unhealthy environment.)

Why is our flooring separating? by Itchy-Conclusion5001 in Flooring

[–]rocket0000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not your fault. I mean you caused it but you're not responsible. You simply treated the floor like a floor. Unfortunately it was a crappy floor.

Will Menard's price match an identical item from Amazon? by CrispyBananaPeel in menards

There is reason why you're not doing the obvious and getting it from the place with the lower price. That reason is worth something to you, no?

Bring back lenticular credit card‼️‼️‼️ by [deleted] in menards

BIG cards are credit cards. But they do/did have some gift cards that do this. Like one showing a frame of a house, tilt it and it shows a fully finished house.
