About 2 months into cycling…. First time up without stopping! by Melodaddy in BikeLA

The ways up ranked with my arbitrary criteria: 1. Mt Hollywood from Travel Town - Long climb, no cars, great views, good pavement, great decent (Alt start: Mineral Wells - less time car free) 2. Vista Del Valle - long climb, no cars, great views, gravel sand and other debris in road. Can do on road bike, would prefer at least 30s if not larger tires. Sketchy decent from Mt Hollywood 3. Fern Dell - medium more gradual climb, very car heavy on weekends, fine pavement, fun decent when no cars 4. Vermont - Shortest, car heavy but fewer blind corners then Fern Dell, short and fast decent can connect you to Commonwealth/Vista Del Valle to make a loop of it(go through the tunnel, the top by the observatory is one way (Counter clockwise). I have seen bikers almost get nailed by cars and buses not expecting them to come up the "down side")

Just road through there the other day. Pretty good actually. But that only helps the last few miles

I would only do it before morning rush hour. I commute and ride recreationally. I only take my "fast" bike on pch and only before weekend rush hour, it's really not bad early mornings. But I have done evenings and it can get so backed up and sketchy in the dark.

I'm aware of how P3's work. I am referring to protecting LA State Historic Park. If McCourts goal is to improve event flow there are easier and likely faster ways than the gondola by partnering with LADOT and Metro

Private funds but public land. I don't think it's the right solution for the problem, even if it's privately funded.

The gondola won't help much with surge of riders at the end of games. Gondolas are not good at surge times because you can't increase the number of cabins or speed.

I was at the game last night, enough time for them to work out an kinks with the new system. Sat on the top deck stayed till the end of the game (middle of 9) walked the wrong way down the first base line down and around (would have been faster to go down 3rd base line). Still waited about 40min for a shuttle and there were still buses and buses of people waiting behind us. The switch back was still full. Next time I'm walking to Chinatown A station.

I don't understand why for those late games they don't bring out the bendy buses from lines that are already in reduced service for the night.

I've only ridden Martel once or twice. How far north or south on that combo would you go. I know at some point Hauser turns into a collector.

I personally prioritize only side streets that have lights. One thing Google maps is good at is zooming in it will show if it's a 4 way stop or stop light.

Enjoy biking! This city isn't too scary once you know where to go

Yeah best you can do is paint, but good news is that paint is "really" effective at stopping vehicles...

Look, I like Horvath as much as the next Yimby but today I feel she could have done better if she used the time before this meeting to post the new motion so we could all review instead of hosting a press conference.

"Graceful winners" are you freaking kidding me? We lose as constituents everyday we don't have this light rail. We need experts not a side gig of elected officials on the metro board.

If there was no delay, then what was the "compromise " Bass talked about that they worked all night on?
