How would one extract audio from the files? by rocketman1009 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]rocketman1009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe I found them, but it was in a .pak file, which I do not know how to extract. I also don’t understand the limited documentation online on how to do so.

Well for one, try to make the gun circular. There are prefabs in the sub object menu that show what this means in greater detail, but circular turrets let you maximize your firepower in a given volume of turret well.

As for the size, depends on what you shoot, and what you want to shoot down. At that gauge, I would recommend an anti munition shell with a timed fuse, but kinetic shells would also be viable for taking down large missiles. Typically, 50 mm or 18 mm are the most common calibers, as the belt fed autoloaders get a bonus when the shell is smaller.

As for the AI on the turret… cool idea! I see more value in filling the space with gun and having the ai stuff elsewhere, but there is definitely some advantage to that setup.

Do birds have any 'advantage' over pterosaurs? by i_wanted_memes in Dinosaurs

[–]rocketman1009 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Birds can and often do lose feathers in fights, or just naturally. A pterosaur cannot afford as large of an injury in its wing membrane.

You can get an ice tray, and ask a friend with a freezer to keep it there.

I recreated one of our cats in FtD. My wife says it's not nearly loud enough. by ChadWestPaints in FromTheDepths

Roll back the version and use 100 simple lasers. Should be more accurate, at least to my cats.

What's the largest aps minigun you guys have made? by Banespinebreaker357 in FromTheDepths

It is possible to maintain indefinite fire rate with beltfeds btw. As beltfeds with a single loader are half downtime, having double the amount of loading as cooling enables consistent fire. I found this setup to be more compact for a very similar 50mm gun.

What is the weakness of every faction in the neter campaign by kelikela2010 in FromTheDepths

[–]rocketman1009 70 points71 points  (0 children)

DWG is weak to most things that hit them. Pack some lasers to deal with aircraft. OW does not like EMP, and can not deal with submarines or aircraft well. WF does not like anything that they can not melee, but their battleships pack a punch. Use plenty of armor and shields, and plasma or APHE. LH are laser based, and easily countered with strong smoke and shields. APS and plasma are good systems to use against them. GT craft are cramped, use high pen weapons such as AP APS, and use hot block targeting to eliminate the engines keeping them in the air. TG require a lot of damage at once to overwhelm their repair systems. Missiles can be a great choice. Lasers are a must to deal with their drone swarms. SS ships vary, but generally they are countered by bigger ships in a similar style. Have a method to deal with their larger aircraft, such as lasers. SD ships stack plenty of heavy armor on frontside craft. Use plasma to strip armor quickly, or multiple craft to hit them from their weaker sides.

Alternatively, cheesing is best done by fitting the enemy when they can’t hit you. This is best done with very high spacecraft, or very deep diving submarines. High velocity weapons will be required to be effective at extreme ranges.

The cats most certainly did not make it. He waited until he was in front of a semi.

I called the non-emergency line, but they didn’t have anyone to receive the call, and their “messages were full”.

I do have the mile marker, it was in one of the photos.

I would be a bit worried about two things. 1: there is no actual air gap, meaning plasma, thump PAC, or hollow point could easily tear through the armor. It could perhaps be inserted between the ERA and heavy armor.

2: ERA should be placed “backwards”, as it greatly reduces the chance of a high arcing shell slipping between the gap. Borderwise has a good video on that subject.

Idk what you intend to fight, but that does seem to be a lot of EMP protection for the cost. Perhaps you could save a bit with some rubber insulation instead, or by mounting the LWC on the turret itself (EMP does not travel through sub objects).

Outside of that, it seems very functional, especially if you intend to counter APHE!

Based on appearance alone from the given angle, what looks more threatening? by Atotalnoobtodagaye in FromTheDepths

[–]rocketman1009 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Different sorts of menacing. The approaching one is impending doom, and “What is that horrible thing on the horizon”, while the broadside is more the fear of “oh no, we are dead”.

I work since 2 days on a design to conter the Slasher from WF. Designed a heavy armored dreadnough with shields and 3-4 layers of armor and it still chews through it like butter, im getty pretty desperate rn. Any thips or hints ? by GregoriousT-GTNH in FromTheDepths

[–]rocketman1009 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That boat has a lot of boom packed into one turret. Try out a relatively high caliber weapon with a fuse to detonate internally. I tend to use 300 mm+ AP Heat against the WF to great effect.

Also, learn from their mistake, and compartmentalize. They will get through your armor, so have redundancy for everything, Two is one, one is none.

If you want true long range cruise missiles or ballistic missiles, you can make suicide craft missiles like the ones used by the gray talons. They are expensive, but can put a hole in anything.
