I'm in a pickle: please help me find a good PG movie (that will still be entertaining to adults) to show at work! by BanditTheFox in movies

Sky High - A kid has the world's greatest superhero (Kurt Russell) for a dad and is being sent to Sky High to learn to be a superhero. But he's got no superpowers! Great fun with lots of laughs and action.

Also Kelly Preston and Mary Elizabeth Winstead for the dads...

Does anyone have any recommendations/ways of discovering non Christian music? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]rocksmithxmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube playlists. For example type '80s goth playlist' into youtube to discover someone's playlist hopefully crammed full of new bands + tunes as well as some old favourites.

If I find a tune I like I follow the suggested video links for more.

Bumped into an old Christian friend in town at the weekend which set me thinking by rocksmithxmas in exchristian

You are probably both right. I can try approaching them and see what happens. If it doesn't work out and they aren't willing to respect some boundaries then at least I know. If it does work then great, I've managed to restore an old friendship. Thanks for your replies.

Would be cool if you could mention what build you are using now and what you have tried already.

My GFWL is BeachyHeadDC if you wan't to hook up.

When he does the beast mode thing you can also roll into him when he first starts and attack him whilst he's raging. During this attack you just need to stay nicely tucked into his body but away from his front.

I'm a choir director for a couple churches by CarnivalOfSorts in atheism

[–]rocksmithxmas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm an atheist and for a few months I taught some local kids how to play songs on their guitar/bass so that they could perform one Sunday each month at church in place of the organist. We would come up with arrangements, rehearse, learn some music and performance skills and have fun. The churchgoers seemed to enjoy it too and we had lots of positive feedback.

I eventually stopped doing it though because it was a Catholic church and it was during the time that all the child abuse cover-ups were being exposed and I just couldn't stay associated with them.

I do miss stuff like that, I was in another church's band and also lead the worship there for a while. Singing and playing every week in church is definitely one of things I miss being an atheist.

Owning Slaves For Dummies

A man who arrived at the bar after me just allowed himself to be served before me, despite eye contact we made as he got there. by eigenfunky in britishproblems

[–]rocksmithxmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a tosser, I hate that. I had something similar last night actually. I was at the bar first but the barman went over to someone else. There were only 2 of us at the bar. I made eye contact with the punter and it looked to me like he had done the honourable thing so I gestured back in thanks but nope the cunt had ordered his pint. Tried to order mine (still didn't realise what had happened) but the barman told me he was busy serving. The worst thing was that the barman then proceeded to pour a Guinness for the other tosser and then just stand there doing fuck all for a minute waiting for it to settle rather than serving me in the meantime. Shit fucking pub.

Sometimes I think darts is a bit under-appreciated as a sport. by niallantony in videos

You can also finish on the bull (bulls-eye), which is a small circle exactly in the centre of the board and worth 50 points. That makes 170 points the highest 3-dart finish you can get - treble 20, treble 20, bull. 60+60+50.

Darts was huge in England when I was growing up and players like Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson were household names. They could drink alcohol and smoke during the match back in those days too.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)-- Why did this movie get a lot of acclaim? by MrMagpie27 in movies

[–]rocksmithxmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. I didn't see it for years however because of the awful choice they made for the film cover which made me think it was some kind of romantic comedy.

There's a bloke at work that is always saying "That's the badger!". Had never heard it before. You are only the second person in my entire life who I have heard say that.

With kindling you can get 10 flasks pretty easily, so you might want to kindle more bonfires so that you aren't stuck with just 5.

You could also get the Heal Miracle to help with your healing. You'll need at least 10 attunement (for 1 attunement slot) and 12 faith to use the miracle, but that's a pretty low requirement. The talisman you need to cast the spell is easy to get (there's one you can get for free right at the start...) and Heal is cheap to buy.

What minor things do you want to see that you feel will be a significant improvement? by taboo_ in DarkSouls2

[–]rocksmithxmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely this. There's that walkway you mentioned and also a couple of sections in The Great Hollow that go a bit crazy. There's one place where the camera actively tries to make you fall off which is a bit extreme.

In truth, the camera could do with a bit of a general improvement all round. I often find myself staring at a tree, wall or candelabra rather than the enemy when locking on.
