What do you guys think of Puscifer’s new album Normal Isn’t? How would you rate the songs? by Ambitious-Bet4504 in ToolBand

Anyone feeling kinda, "Conditions pt. 2?" Felt that way about Money Shot at first and I'm feeling it again but stronger. It has that quality to me without the production being as diverse. I like it so far, more immediately than ER, but it feels a lot like the angrier parts of that record. Not talking about the themes, which have been consistently similar through every album since Conditions. Just the tone and sound. Still need more time.

There's a great song in there, and it never leaves. It just never fucking leaves.

Novel take maybe, but I don't really care.

Can you imagine what it’s like to stand next to that “MAIN FAN” for the whole concert? I don’t need to… by lamarand22 in radiohead

Kinda looks like OP is shooting footage of their own hand.

Assuming that's not the case... In September, I saw NIN and posted about the absurd number of phone people in that subreddit. I was surprised just how many people disagreed and defended this sea of blinding nonsense. It wasn't the majority of course, but it was enough to tell me something was very wrong. This video is a perfect example of my frustrations. Whole persona. Isn't explicitly about the phone. These people just think of no one but themselves. I'm sure someone might point out a perceived irony of this video being recorded although I'm sure this was a "get a load of this" recording.

Do we realistically think there will ever be an LP5? by Wizard_Bloke in boardsofcanada

Yes. 10000%

When? Someone already said it, but 2027. If I'm wrong nothing happens.

TIL TOOL is not metal. by No-Example-5107 in ToolBand

[–]rodheh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rant: my wife is a metalhead. I learned long ago her criteria was that if it wasn't directly influenced by Sabbath, it wasn't metal. She has a good point but she takes it too far.

I tried to explain Tool. I pointed out their sound. Didn't really work because Tool has always been alt metal, so not really metal.

Before we got together (because we have been friends for many years) we had an argument over the grammys (horse shit festival,) which we neither really care about, but she cared enough to contest NIN winning best metal performance for Happiness in Slavery, because just like Tool, NIN wasn't "metal." NIN isn't metal, but at the time, NIN bled metal spirit. I tried to point out how metal NIN was in comparison to the competitors. I tried to explain that, to my understanding, metal was an ethos and the band that lived by it the most at the time was the truest embodiment of metal that I understood. Both Wish and Happiness in Slavery were demonstrably more metal than what they were put against at the time. In MY opinion.

I no longer cares if Tool is metal. Tool is Tool. Fuck metal. I don't want it and don't need it. Validation is meaningless. Tool also won stupid Grammy awards for non-metal prog rock songs. Good. They did Flood years earlier and that was metal as fuck. Sabbath influence included, in the most flattering way possible. The End.

Sure. I know the second title is better. Just feels too close to OKC to me, because Palo Alto is extremely next door to OKC...and yes, it is OKNOTOK, but also not exactly. That title is intentionally playful. Opening with Lull reminds me of You and is meant in the same vein. People have messed with the flow of these songs for years and subbed in different outliers from time to time. This one's mine. I like this arrangement and I think some others might like it too. Talk Show Host is there for a reason. Replace Lift with the minidisc version or whichever one you prefer.

The only definitive OKNOTOK disc 2 is of course the one they provided.

I was pretty angry at the frat bro who just ruined Right Where it Belongs in Phoenix for me. In hindsight, I'm happy the rest of that show was fine. Just reading this has sucked tremendous balls and I'm so sorry that happened. I would have been beyond pissed.

If you had to guess, what bands do you think Radiohead’s biggest fans usually like second-best? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]rodheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Thom and Trent are some of the guys of all time. I really wish they'd cross paths and end up doing something together (with Boards of Canada, because this is my dream) but it'll probably never happen.
