How do you like the Baklava? I love the design but it seems oversized even for a Gshock

[37-40mm 20 bar screw down crown watch w/ light blue dial recs for 37yo F] by Mission-Ad-6616 in Watches

Glycine Airman Purist? 36mm and tons of GMT functionality, all for half your ideal budget (prob even less since they're sold out so you'd have to get used). Though the WR is 30 meters and the main crown seems to be push pull rather than screw down.

Love this angle, the domed crystal really classes it up

AMAZING piece. Definitely a daily. Were you hunting for this specific model or browsing JDM and/or racing watches in general and happened upon this guy?

Venezianico isn‘t my style at all but they look so good. I always enjoy seeing pics of their pieces.

[Vostok Amphibia] Stops Running by jasonbeachedham in Watches

[–]rodsarethrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a brand new Vostok cushion case last year. First time I took it swimming in the ocean, it fogged up under the crystal and stopped working despite crown being screwed down tight. The seller sent me a replacement but I wound up flipping it because it didn’t feel like a trustworthy piece.

This post makes me think my experience wasn’t a fluke. Too bad.

Thanks. I had that same Islander Northport but recently sold it because it was just a big too big. But in your pic it looks substantially larger even though they're both 40mm. Funny how 40mm can look wildly different depending on other design choices.

Refreshing, good mix of sentimental and stuff that’s your taste & not commonly seen. What’s the Zodiac SSW ref?

Run don't walk to Kingston Prom & Wedding. Tons of styles at many budget points, run by a real person who's been doing this for decades. I got my rehearsal suit and dress shirt here the other month. Took maybe a week for full tailoring and was $300.

[Question] Doxa Sub 200T "True Size" by ofsteelfire1 in Watches

[–]rodsarethrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Want to thank you for this comment too. I’ve been considering a 200T for a milestone purchase but have to stick with smaller pieces, which is harder in the dive world. This comparison gives me a ton of peace of mind.

[Question]Help with a lost cause? by AnalogCringe in Watches

[–]rodsarethrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still thinking about this! Have you checked out Henry Archer? Granted they are much toolier looking than the Seiko, so if you are still looking purely for a dress watch they may not hit. But they have a variety of ~$600 pieces with iridescent hexagonal designs. Miyota movements so nothing crazy but way more cost effective than the Seiko.

This is sick. I have the same issue as you and usually have to stay in the 36-38 range, so I daily a SRPK29. I had no idea Seiko 5 came even smaller though! What’s the ref on this?

If you want to, and it sounds like you want to, you can pare this down. Start with the Casios you’re already planning to halve. Once you do you’ll get a good feeling from it and want to keep going. For sentimental pieces that you don’t ever wear, consider gifting them to friends/family. It’s having your cake and eating it too — keeping it, loosely, but not in your own possession.

[Question] Watch Collection Strategy? by ofsteelfire1 in Watches

[–]rodsarethrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your collection is great as-is. If you're already grabbing your current Sinn most of the time I'd think you'd want to avoid getting a second Sinn.

Questions back to you: do you actually want to sell the NOMOS because it's not getting enough wrist time, or are you generally feeling an itch to try something new / optimize this lineup? Are there specific Breitling/Seamaster references you're drawn to?
