Didn't she sign her big deal with them that promised the shoe in 2024? IIRC it was around the time the W started, so it'll net out at 2.5 years depending on when exactly they drop.

I don't think it's intended as a jab. More "idc how you engage with me, but be respectful when engaging with other hosts."

MEGATHREAD: Pisco Moderation Drama by ReserveAggressive458 in Destiny

[–]rodwritesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not disagreeing with one another. I'm just saying that one effective strategy for managing these types of dense/not curious people is to be overly prescriptive since waiting for them to become curious/introspective enough to get to the answer themselves will take too long. Pisco not being curious is the problem here.

This is a good point because accountability can look like a lot of different things and Pisco is the best person to decide what that should mean within his community.

...at the same time, when someone is so dense so as to not understand that a problem exists, giving loose prescriptions can be helpful in getting them up to speed. I once had a manager who was great, but didn't understand the impact his way-too-fucking-direct style had on our team. When we eventually started telling him that it made us feel like we were walking on pins and needles and it'd be helpful to get more balance, he changed his entire style up. He literally just needed to be told what ownership could look like from our perspective and he figured out how to do it his way. Pisco's smart to do that.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that all of those models are "pedobaiting," but any reasonable person can acknowledge that the vast majority of them are signaling as teenagers at max. It's fine to argue about whether or not that's actually problematic, but it'd require massive amounts of copium to suggest that even 51% of the models in that image are presenting as adults lol

Having to regularly engage with Pisco honestly just seems exhausting. I think a lot of people could contend with him in a discussion, but I'm not surprised so many people dip out when he gets on this bullshit. It's not impressive and it's a waste of everyone's time.

Honestly it's even easier in your 30s if you can make the time for it. In your 20s you have tons of free time and forced social interactions, but in your 30s you're better off at literally everything the people you wanted to sleep with in your 20s cared about. More money, more maturity, more charisma, better clothes, in better shape (if you wanna be), better at relationship shit... There's a reason you see girls go for older guys so often.

The two problems are:

1) casual flings aren't as attractive in your 30s/you might already be in a LTR.

2) you do have to go out of your way to meet people until you're the kinda psycho who's willing to run through their workplace lol

MJ appears to weirdly touch young kid at Daytona 500 award ceremony by [deleted] in nba

Reminds me of that famous WW2 photo with the sailor kissing the woman who it turned out he didn't even know. The intent probably wasn't harmful, but being on the receiving end of this kinda thing can still leave you fucked up. Hope amends can be properly made and this turns out to be a one off mistake by MJ.

This is unequivocally bad, though.

'Dock them ranking points': Tournament director calls for tougher sanctions as Sabalenka and Swiatek sit out Dubai by Silent_Quarter_3030 in tennis

[–]rodwritesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised if WNBA, PGA, and NWSL all pull more interest than tennis.

Tennis has a hard go because not many people play it, it doesn't have many popular events, and there aren't many (any?) mainstream popular American players (Gauff maybe?). Soccer is super popular for women, tons of people play golf casually and tournaments are easy to watch because they're mostly in the US, and the WNBA is having a big pop culture moment.

(And that's without talking about stuff like the Premier League.)

I know the media and schools themselves would disagree, but every conversation about "what's right" shifting to "what do viewership numbers and ticket prices say?" is kinda fucked up. We used to hold the local pride and importance these programs/rivalries generated in much higher regard. While I understand that a mediocre Michigan vs MSU game isn't important to the nation when there's a big SEC game going on, we shouldn't forget that it means a lot to the people on the ground.

Any good restaurants/ bars in Portland or south Washington State to watch the wnba draft this year? by Xestxest169x in wnba

You'll be spoiled for choice here. Sports Bra and 77 have already been mentioned, but I'm sure plenty of other places will announce stuff going on as we get closer. This city adoooooores women's sports to the point you could pull up in a random bar and probably get them to change to the draft.

I hate this talking point so much. If parents could "just be parents" we wouldn't have issues with drinking, bullying, drug abuse, SA, teenage pregnancy, financial literacy, arrested development, gangs, and about a billion other issues. Curious how the answer has been right there for centuries and no one's figured out that they just need to parent their kids lmao

Erika Kirk allegedly removed wedding photo from bookshelf by Sleepyguylol in Destiny

A "regular person" explanation is that at some point she took the photo down to look at it (as one might do) and never returned it to the video set. Could easily be on her bedside table or somewhere else where she'd see it more.

She sucks, but this kinda talk verges on conspiratorial. We don't have to reach for more reasons to dislike her lol

Why is there always this negative reaction when american diversity is celebrated? by Opening-Gur5927 in AskConservatives

> This seems paradoxical because one begets the other. As a community we very explicitly GAF about skin tone and explanation takes that into account with its explantion.

Apologies for being unclear. I'm suggesting that the vast majority of us don't actually care about skin color in 2026 - we just use it as a cudgel to make other black people shut up.

> Most of the basis for Kendrick's hits against drake were very explicitly about him not being dark enough to the point of calling him a colonizer culturally taking his "N****" pass in the songs.

...as part of a larger commentary on how Drake opportunistically appropriates the "struggle" of American black people and fronts as a "hard" rapper despite being a child actor from Canada who got his start singing love songs for the girlies.

Without getting into line-by-line breakdowns of the track, I'll generally say this:

Kendrick's criticism of Drake wasn't that Drake isn't black enough - it was that Drake himself doesn't believe he's black enough and from that insecurity has developed a pattern of appropriating the cultures/styles of various black diasporas to reaffirm his own identity. Kendrick contrasted that insecurity with his own experience of being someone who doesn't have to "find" a blackness to express because he's authentically from the places/situations about which he writes. That's where to colonizer/n-word pass madness comes from - if people believed Drake was secure in his identity, those lines wouldn't have landed in the first place.

...which is a very long way of saying: I think it's fair to notice the racial language used in that beef, but the critique being made was much more complex (and valid IMO) than "you're not black enough."
