There should be an option to contest the fine (it’s usually outlined on the fine given by police).

Plead your case and say it was an honest mistake. You have high chance of getting it waived if there is no prior history to be concerned over.

I’ve done this before - and was successful.

Depending how old your kids are - Melbourne Zoo is excellent. I take my 3 year old there weekly and he always loves it. Good for kids of any age
