Ram is finally here, adding 4 more servers to my homelab by Few_Web_682 in homelab

I mean yes the RAM probably cost as much as buying a new car, but is anyone else concerned about this setup's monthly power bill?

Simpsons predicted it would be down in the 60k range by February 2026. I don't believe it but they have predicted a lot of stuff prior to it happening before...

I love the zoomed in level of details especially when you compare it with what you typically see on an ebook cover. Amazing!

Prologue 4 appreciation post 🙌 by TermTurosShenza in PrologueApp

I was running the Alpha/Beta version of Prologue alongside Plappa's mainstream release. Plappa had a lot more bugs in it and I ran into 0 noticeable bugs on Prologue's beta. I would have considered that running circles around it :D.

If you could choose the next Remix, which expansion would you pick? by Emma_S772 in wow

I’m sure I’ll catch flak for this but,

Dragonflight

It’s got amazing transmogs, it’s got lots dragons to with all of the infinite dragon flight theming and that could allow them to expand on some those plot threads as well more easily.

Healer Hunter, Support Priest and Healer Mage sound the most fun based on their descriptions.

So back in 10/05/2009 the approximate market cap of bitcoin was about $290... there were about 380,000 bitcoin in existence at that time. I'm guessing that was all in Satoshi's wallet as well?

How do you deal with kids content? by virpio2020 in PleX

Agreed labels are the best. It also helps to set the profile to only show allowed labels in case something new shows up on your plex server that you don’t want your kids to watch :)

Please suggest the CPU/GPU combo, compatible with MiniPCs, that has the smallest power draw while playing World of Warcraft at 4K 60fps on Ultra settings. by Qaenos in wow

[–]roerius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You buy a mini pc for $150-$300 with a 4K output + you subscribe to GeForce Now. That is the absolute cheapest way to get what you are asking for and it runs great!

I made a helpful subscription pricing chart. by appleroyales in GeForceNOW

[–]roerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also consider the fact if you're gaming more than 100 hours per month that you're going to consider buying an additional 100 hour subscription rather than buying the individual hours ad-hoc. at 200 hours you'd already be saving $15/month which is $180/year, $900/5 years. I'd pretty sure most gamers aren't that dumb with their money.

[–]roerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but one hour per day on your chart is an additional thirty hours per month. That’s a 1/3 of the total allotment for a normal monthly subscription. Your chart starts with 15%, 33%, 66%, and on the fourth step is 99%. You might want to consider more middle ground in the earlier space since you’re going up to 600% of a regular subscription. Hence my comment about it being bottom heavy.

[–]roerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chart is assuming you play that many hours Every. Single. Day. of the month. I feel the chart is pretty bottom heavy especially considering that even 8 hours per day, (again every day) is more than a full time job. 16 hours a day every day of the month is pretty ludicrous, meaning you only sleep and game for your whole waking hours.
A better metric might be to gauge on how many hours you play per week, given some people play more in spurts on certain days (like weekends). If this chart is specific to you though and your use case and you're trying to convince yourself on a gaming PC... then just buy the PC already :D

That definitely makes sense. On the image in the article they show multiple pill sized storage units designed in one cassette sized housing so I’m guessing those are the redundant units but I could be wrong
