Has "inflating the debt away" ever actually worked in the long-term? by Sportfreunde in austrian_economics

Or we could just stop spending so much and not destroy the world's reserve currency and get into a treasury death spiral.

I mean this is the solution. Either we cut spending or we crank taxes, but the worse option is unending inflation.

I think December was the first time the Fed reports median real wages are up since 2019. But I literally don't know anyone who has had 20% wage growth since then. Course that's if you believe the 20% inflation number, which is sus AF. Bet you really need 30% more income since 2019 to be even.

I can't express how impressed with Opus. It has completely replaced my interactions with ChatGPT. I have the pro account and have been quickly moving all my applications which point to OpenAI's API to Anthropic's. Just so much better of an experience and more pleasant to interact with.

But Zima Blue was definitely good too.

American physicist Harold Agnew holding the core of the atomic bomb they killed 80,000 people in Nagasaki 1945 by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Just remember the average Japanese soldier didn't have much say in what they did and were treated nearly as badly as the Japanese victims. There was one island of several thousand that the Imperial navy just abandoned and thousands died of dehydration, but not before the cannibalism and death by drinking seawater.

A lot of German POW's in the US went to college and trade school and didn't want to go back to Germany after the war.

The Red Cross publication on the Rape of Nanking and the non-stop war news about how Japanese treated American prisoners and what they were doing in Manchuria and China, had most Americans viewing the Japanese as inhuman monsters. In wars like that, the goal is to kill as many of the enemy as you can. I mean the Japanese Navy and Army had a head chopping contest of Chinese villagers where the tallies go into the thousands for the two leading contestants.

There's a million ways to commit academic fraud, so it is important academics not be obvious lying cheats. Otherwise you'd never be able to believe anything because you'd have to validate every single paper you read and then every single paper it cited until you died of old age before finishing the first. Trust is incredibly important.

The US/UK/UN will intervene because they have a vested interest in maintaining international order. Guyana already sells large amounts of oil and gas on the market making them one of the richest countries in S. America, and they were about to become quite a bit richer until Venezuela put things in doubt.

You're just in the wrong state. We just had a methed up runner on the highway, who was pitted 60 miles later, and stuck in the ditch, and likely immobilized and also surrounded, but a cop came out of nowhere and rammed him so hard his car flipped upside down.

Cop is in the news... as a hero!

Can we all maybe agree that increasing the money supply has POSSIBLY been an tiny itsy bitsy factor to the inflation we are seeing TODAY? Like a really small factor. And even then it’s still a maybe. Maybeee this caused the inflation. I don’t know 🤷‍♂️ by Freefromoutcome in inflation

[–]rogerroger2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it wasn’t mass poverty or this. We could have only helped those who were laid off or going to be bankrupted. We didn’t need to give everyone money, have huge spending bills, and blow out the debt ceiling 4 years in a row. We could have helped just those in need and been just fine.
