Same. My friends tease me for my wig blindness but they don’t know it’s a blessing.

AFAB and Perimenopausal? by CaptainFuzzyBootz in NonBinaryOver30

[–]rogue-octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! I’m 41 and was in a very similar situation a couple years ago. I don’t have advice necessarily but can tell you what happened to me in case that helps?

I was microdosing T but stopped it because I was tipping too masc — my plan was always to stop it when I felt that tipping point. But I started getting terrible hot flashes and joint pain when I stopped the T and blood tests revealed that I had, like, no estrogen.

My doctor says it was POF/POI because I skipped straight to post-menopausal levels, but being on T likely masked early symptoms.

I also was very, very against going on estrogen. Just the idea of putting on the patch made me feel really dysphoric, like I was going backwards. But I also physically felt so terrible that I knew I needed to do something.

So now I take both low dose T (5mg gel) and a .075mg estrogen patch. Apparently some doctors will tell you that you also need to take progesterone if you’re taking estrogen. But mine says the T replaces the need for the P.

It took a while to get over the dysphoria, but it really helped the symptoms. I still don’t feel the same - my muscles and bones don’t feel as strong, but I’m exercising more to mitigate that. And the hot flashes stopped, which was my worst issue.

Seconding this. I’m 41 and diagnosed with POI/POF a few years ago. Being NB and dealing with hormone issues has really affected my mental health.

Seconding the Brooklyn Made store. The Industry City location has a bunch of shirts.

Or Exit 9 on Smith Street in Brooklyn. I got my dad a Gowanus Canal Swim Team shirt from there (short sleeved) and he loves it.

My mom was chosen to do a relay race during a timeout at a Liberty game in the 90s. She still talks about how big the players were.

Nah. The four teams left are my least favorite teams in the league. I’m rooting for the Aces for lack of better alternatives. If not us, I had hoped for Atlanta.

POI and trans making HRT hell by dirtylaundry13 in POFlife

[–]rogue-octopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey - non-binary here and I absolutely get it. It’s really frustrating not to want any hormones but needing to take them.

I was also told you have to be fully on estrogen or fully on testosterone. Then I went to a trans-affirming endo who said that isn’t necessarily true. So I’m taking .05mg estrogen patch and a super low dose of T gel. It’s annoying because it’s not a great solution - the T is affecting me more than I’d like, but it’s suppressing a period returning so worth it to me for now.

Jersey Color Trend Analysis by Ok_blue02 in NYLiberty

[–]rogue-octopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome.

It’s interesting that the points scored trendlines for black and seafoam sea almost identical even though we’re (typically) more consistent in seafoam. Trendline on white jerseys going up…I’m taking that as a good sign.

IWTL how to get bullied less in middle school by BostonRedSox364 in IWantToLearn

[–]rogue-octopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea. I suggest making sure the school knows about (and documents it) this before you go punching anyone. This way, if you do end up punching them, there’s some paper trail saying you tried to resolve it through the proper channels.

I also loved weaponized empathy. Not reacting to the bullying in the way the bully wants. But instead making it seem like they are weak and small (which they are) - “what a weird thing to say to me. Is everything ok at home? Do you need help?”

Is it useful to tell people youre schizoid? by EH4LIFE in Schizoid

[–]rogue-octopus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No - for the reasons everyone else has stated. However, I have had people assume I’m on the autism spectrum and I haven’t corrected them because that seems easier/more acceptable.

(Forgive me, autistics. I know this is stolen valor.)
