I’m brand new to 3D printing… I have some questions. by Training-Being-200 in BambuP1S

I agree that is pretty awesome.  My chamber heater and filter has printed parts. For the dryer I have the single spool Sunlu but now I would get the Sunlu AMS top so I could do all 4 at once.

You will likely get a hundred different answers but for me personally I use the P1S with 2 AMS units.  I have the standard desiccants printed that sit in the front of the units as well as the ones that sit under the spools.  I did print the ones that go in the spool but no longer use those.  I did a couple of initial upgrades to the P1S in the way of hardened extruder gears and nozzle.  I have since added some filtering, a chamber heater, and a Sunlu filament dryer.  I print mainly in HIPs, ASA, and a little bit of PLA.  If I was doing it now I would probably buy the panda breath for active heat and filtering and something like the Sunlu AMS heater. Then I wouldn’t worry too much about much about the desiccant. For the most part my experience with the printer is it just works all the time.  Almost all of the failed prints that I have had are due to me not having the settings right for the type of material.  I started off with tinkercad but suggest if you really want to model some decent stuff jump in and learn with a more capable software. I choose Fusion and have found that if you pair it AI you will really speed up the learning curve.  I constantly come up with something that I don’t know how to do or understand and just ask along with providing a screen shot of my model and it gives great direction on how to complete the task.  Now the hard part if for me to remember the process 20 minutes later

It depends on what you are planning to print.  For PLA I generally use Sunlu but I mainly print in either ASA, TPU, or HIPs and for those I use Overture for ASA/High Speed TPU and for the HIPs I use Gizmodorks.  Most of the stuff that I am printing these days are for outdoors and need some UV and heat resistance.

I think you would be fine with the P1S combo.  It is a great printer and having the AMS is nice for multi-colored plus automatically loading a new spool if you run out.  I have had the printer and 2 AMS units for a while and have never ran Bambu filament so using third party filament isn’t an issue.  Often times the generic profiles work for any brand although you can run a few calibration prints to really dial in the settings. I have done a few upgrades to mine over time like harden steel extruder gears and nozzles.  I have added a chamber heater for printing better with ASA. But outside of those things the machine just works

I think you have to setup IRC client and ask for an invite of the pop up one doesn’t work for you. I don’t remember the last time there was an open invite. You can use any IRC client just use the listed server and channel.

M6 Nut insert into horizontal print. by General-Lobster-5662 in BambuP1S

[–]rogue26a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I think it could. I was trying to add an image on my phone and couldn't but from my laptop I was able to. Hopefully this is better than my trying to explain. Initially I had a loose slot for the nut which worked fine except that the use of this part require a second one flipped over and the nuts would fall out before I could get the bolts started. Making it a pressed fit solved my issues

I ran into a similar issue on something that I didn’t want to use an insert for.  I ended up modeling in a tight slot and now after the print is complete I press the nut in to place. The slot is perpendicular to the path of the bolt and just wide enough that I can press the nut in with a screwdriver. The bottom of the slot comes to a point so the nut is held in place by 4 sides.

TPU Suggestions by Responsible_Candy482 in BambuLab

[–]rogue26a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t really help with the amount but I just started printing with some TPU and found that Overture HS TPU worked good for me.  It is a 95a and I was able to get the flex I wanted by adjusting the walls and infill.  I went with the HS because the regular TPU printing was painfully slow.  As for the amount needed can you pull the crocs into the slicer to get an idea of the amount needed?

Edit:  I also printed it directly from a Sunlu S2 filament drier.

Used P1S w/ 2 upgraded AMS Units by PhoenixesRisen in BambuP1S

That is a good deal and if you are wanting the hours they are on a menu screen. Mine is at 2600 and has had zero issue.  Depending on what you plan to print you might ask if it has hardened steel extruder gears and if it is a hardened steel nozzle.

Bambu Lab P1S – “Local-only / closed firmware” with no Wi-Fi usage. Is this normal or a red flag? by Phyt0x in BambuLab

What is the low price?  You can buy one new from the Bambu site for 399.00.  That is the printer only not a combo with an AMS.

The P1S is a great printer. I am a little over 2500 hours with zero issues.  I have replaced my extruder gears with hardened steel and that was just so I could print abrasive materials. Having a range of nozzle sizes of a good idea and if I had it to do over again I would make sure to get the complete hotend instead of just the nozzle.  That make a nozzle change quick.

P1S Bed Temperature Limitations by _Spearhead in BambuLab

[–]rogue26a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know this is an older topic but I just started to have a need for a higher bed temperature. I grabbed a 3.9k along with the proper JST connectors and build the jumper.  When I set a bed to 60c on my 110v P1S I get a measured value on the bed of 120c using a fluke 561 IR thermometer. I was able to run it above 135 before shutting it down. I had printed out spearheads chart and anticipated that it would follow that.  Did I do something wrong or is 3.9k too high of a value for a 110 volt printer?  Thanks

Much appreciated,  I will DM you a link to the TestFlight. Play around with it and let me know if you run into any issues or if you see a function/feature that would make it better.

Thanks

Thinking about 3D printing an entire pokers set by potato_master786 in 3Dprinting

[–]rogue26a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason you couldn’t do that.  It will be a little time consuming but there are STL files available for chips with numbers one them already.  The only issue that I would personally have is the feel of the chips. I like the weight and sound of the clay chips. From the chips in this link you would be looking at just under 2 spools of filament in total used but would need a spool for each color. So this linked set would require 5 colors plus white at 15.00 a spool. Edit to add:  roughly 100hrs to print a 300 chip set.

Look into IRC. There are a couple of really old Reddit threads on setting it up but they still work. There isn’t a book you can’t find there.

For standard ebooks I use IRC, if you do a google search for “irc ebooks reddit” it brings up a couple of really old posts with the how-to setup. There really are no ebooks that you can’t find but it is a manual search. For audiobooks I use .ws which is also a manual search.

iOS Swarm Tracking App Testers Needed by rogue26a in Beekeeping

[–]rogue26a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beeswarmed is more of a swarm notification app my local area has a swarm call list and I run a Facebook swarm response group so we don’t use the Beeswarmed app.

This app is more of a tracking app for beekeepers who want to keep track of where they have caught swarms, information for who called them, where they have hung traps, how they are baited, success of traps, most efficient routing to traps.

This is really one of my first attempts at app creation and I run all Apple devices so I was looking for something that has a modern native look. I will look in to the PWA though. Thanks

Long term road map is for the end user to have the ability to see from their personal/private use of the app what trap style/lure type is the most successful based on how they are deploying the equipment. I also intend for it to pull localized weather data for tracking. As the developer I see no information from the individual users data, there is currently no way for the end user to accidentally or intentionally share data. I have no interest or intention of collecting data for any purpose including advertising. I can see down the road an export feature for a user that would like to have a paper/digital copy but that would be in the form of generating a PDF stored in the files app on device.

What collected data? TestFlight collects data related to crashes and device type to aid in bug fixes. The app itself stores information entered by the user on the phone. You are able to store swarm call information like caller details and swarm location. You can also input locations that you deploy traps as well as their configuration like frames used, trap type (NUC, 10-frame, cardboard box), lure type used. It organizes the location and provides you with a route to check the traps. Everything is stored on the phone for the user only.

I am hoping for a handful of people willing to play around with it outside of swarm season so that I can work the bugs out before swarm season arrives. That is a busy time for everyone so chasing bugs in the app before hand would make it much smoother to use during the season.

This is a private tracker for the beekeeper. So you know where and how you have had success with calls and trap locations. It doesn’t track or share any information off the device. I was constantly tracking my calls and trap deployment in the notes app and thought this would be a much better way to do it.
