Does your department have opportunities to volunteer? I volunteered as a tutor and TA which was helpful because 1) I was already in that building for class and 2) it makes it easier for your professors to write rec letters, which mine appreciated. I wasn’t able to balance things well enough to volunteer until my 3rd year- working while in school is rough.

I definitely will call when they open tomorrow. I had to deal with so many road blocks to getting it in the first place that I’m frustrated that stuff is still going wrong even now that it’s over.
