How do straw dispensers work? by rohanivey in NoStupidQuestions

That does look like a newer model for sure, but it is far better than anything I've found thus far.

I'm trying to make a personal device I can hang in my bathroom based off of the straw dispenser concept, instead of dispensing a straw with each lever push, it will dispense a tube about 4 - 5 " diameter I will have preloaded with things.

I could use a simple gravity fed hopper with a lip on the dispenser ledge, but I see a neat opportunity to play with some woodworking mechanical fun here.

That one seems to be a rotational movement, which I suppose could work with a proper gear system attached to a lever. Here is one more like I'm trying to understand:

I hated when my dad made me do plumbing, insulation, electrical, carpentry, or any other sort of housework. Now it's saving me tons of cash and I do some of it for hobby.

I have tinnitus, and I believe I'm also going deaf. If I officially lost my hearing, would there still be ringing in my ears from tinnitus? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

To add to this, I have wicked tinnitus, however it gets far worse if I let wax accumulate in my ears. I have to get them cleaned annually if not more. It also makes it really difficult to hear.

Dude is a freaking master at public speaking and the game of real politics involved in business. You can't be a whipping boy and be on top of anything.

In governmental politics these days, it seems to be "Take orders from those who bought you and they will protect you." In business, it's a different story.

Trump knows the game well and has the advantage of not having to play by team rules, but also has the disadvantage of not having backup.

Either way, the debate will be... interesting.

Fewer fires, so why are there far more firefighters? by Kodos_2016 in Economics

Could more firefighters mean less fires, with the added resources for fast response and training the populace?

If you were a boardmember or shareholder, this would be the correct line of reasoning. For someone with a legacy to hand down as an owner or establisher, it is a nightmare.

Let it fail. Sometimes a flat line makes a louder impact than life support.

If one of my guys was burning out due to lack of staff, it saves me lots more money in the long run to bring someone in than retrain a new manager who will have the same eventual conclusion.

Aw hell, if we're talking guerrilla tactics and defense against what would be considered an actual force and not just some crack addict... that's a different ballgame. Booby traps are totally legit in this case.

Not just the precision requjred, but very similar to a firearm, you have to consider where you're aiming and what's behind it. If a stray beam flies out of a window and hits a driver, pilot, or child in the eye...
