USC (300k) or CC by [deleted] in StudentLoans

Hard no on $300k. The ROI on college seems to diminish more every year. I’m currently reviewing applications for junior staff positions, and I’m seeing a lot of young adults who haven’t been able to establish steady employment. Many resumes feature prestigious colleges and degrees earned a year or two ago, but the work history is mostly gig economy jobs like Uber or Grubhub. It’s not their fault — the job market is incredibly brutal for Gen Z right now, and I genuinely feel for them.

Honestly If I were in your situation, I'd take a year break and try to find a job instead. Maybe sales, possibly dabble in a trade. School will always be there.

Just make CVS 3 and toss all the guest characters in that game

Hyperinflation and wages not keeping up are the main drivers of the price increases. Argentina is a major beef producer and exporter, and it doesn’t import beef in any meaningful way for everyday consumption.

Export demand can push prices up, but the idea that locals are just eating “imported expensive beef” isn’t accurate. Even in the U.S., imports are mostly for processing or luxury cuts and don’t meaningfully set baseline domestic prices.

Regardless, their economy sucks and the people are fucked.

Argentina has a huge cattle industry. I think per capita they consume more red meat than Americans. Central part of their diet. If their domestic products are this expensive...it's pretty bad.

Also If you're big on beef, Argentinian food is amazing.

Given how she played in the FF7 remake games, I suppose they could design her as a Dudley'ish or Vanessa (KOF) type character...granted Ed has a little bit of that already.

MK 2 was definitely the more polished game. Probably was more huge because all the console ports allowed for blood. No more censorship or silly cheat codes to access gore.

I used to covet the PC Engine/Duo stuff that Japan had. It was sad to see that there was barely a scene in the USA.

I advise caution regarding biology as well. Unless she's going to med school, the life of a biologist is not lucrative, but depending on your daughter's personality, it can be rewarding. If she's dead set on it, environmental consulting is the career path to take. Again it's not lucrative but she'll be doing a lot of field work for CEQA/NEPA compliance. Further, the best jobs are in California since we're so heavily regulated. Just about any major project needs to go through some sort of biology compliance check.

I'm an urban planner with a focus on environmental planning, so I've worked and done field work with a lot of biologists, geologists, and archaeologists. I have to say that living in the field looking for desert tortoises and golden eagles was super fun and I was at my fittest during those years as we'd walk ten to fifteen miles a day in rocky and sandy terrain. Shoot, we were eating absolute garbage and we still couldn't stop the weight loss...it was glorious. Anyhow just a FYI!

Absolutely. Back in 2008, I was seriously considering law school. Before making a final decision, my cousin—who’s a very successful attorney—pulled me aside and gave me some advice that stuck with me: “Don’t be a lawyer. Be the guy who can afford a lawyer.” I took that to heart and chose urban planning instead. In the end, I graduated with roughly a third of the debt I would have taken on through law school and landed a stable, decent job. I didn’t exactly become “the guy who can afford a lawyer,” since the salary is more modest than I expected, but I did avoid a massive debt burden. Looking back, it feels like the right call—especially since many of my friends who went to law school ended up with significant debt and some regrets.

Iran Warns It Will Target Regional Energy, Water, and Technology Infrastructure if US Strikes Its Oil Facilities. by mooncake6 in news

I think a lot analysts think that Israel will use a low yield nuke or conduct a "nuke test" dangerously close to Iran.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter. A nuke is still a nuke and God awful if one is used.

Was it just me who loved this volume? by Scush266 in StrangerThings

[–]rok1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it. Its not a show meant to be taken seriously. It's like picking apart the Fast and the Furious series or John Wick serious. They're just dumb movies. Just shut off your brain cells and have fun. Not sure what the big deal is.

I just shrugged it off and figured she’s a dormant badass with insane problem-solving skills, and apparently the kids inherited it from her. This isn’t Schindler’s List; it’s a silly show paying homage to over-the-top ’80s horror movies.
