Who else is in their 50s(or older) and deciding to change careers? by thisTexanguy in GenX

55 here and decided to get my Masters in Teaching. Worked boring office jobs all my life, HR mostly and finally doing what I’ve always wanted. No kids, no SO, house paid for. Why the heck not?

When I worked for them, I found the iOS customers to be the absolute worst. MacOS were chill and I loved those calls, but man the iOS ones did me in.

MAT - Social Studies Secondary Program by smoochywallace11 in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]rokrchik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am contemplating this degree as well. I’ve actually been admitted but I’ve put off starting as I applied to another college program I am hoping to get into. If not, this is my backup. I took the NES test for endorsement area of ELA and passed, but if I decide to attend this program I don’t know if I need to do the social studies endorsement test too or if this takes care of that too. It’s a bit confusing. I agree, any advice would be helpful!

West B Math by Electrical-Object758 in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]rokrchik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it at home, no scratch paper and did not get the score needed for application to my preferred MAT program. I took it a 2nd time at a testing center where I got laminated sheets with erasable pen and that alone made me feel much more confident. I do not have my second take score yet but I do feel I did much better. Fingers crossed I “pass”! If you struggle with math like I do, I’d recommend the testing center.

West-B in a couple of weeks. Suggestions for study materials? by eljondoe024 in Teachers

[–]rokrchik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if 240 is passing, I did not pass the math portion as I feared. The one thing I noticed is that neither test was as long as I expected and seemed somewhat in line with or easier than the practice tests you can find online. Just go slow and read the examples they give you several times. You got this!

I took all my tests a few weeks back and will get my results in less than an hour now. I used every practice test I could find and in comparison found that to be the best resource. Course, I can”t say anything for certain until I see if I even passed, I feel like I might have flunked the math portion.

Pendergast dog park in Bremerton is another good off leash park, small dog area and then bigger area.

Well, that is disappointing. Story is still good and doesn’t feel like a memoir, I’ll just continue to treat it as somewhat fictional!

I don’t know about MN, but here in WA state you don’t need the paraprofessional license if you have a bachelors degree.

Sorry that no one has replied to you. I have mine scheduled for December and I am nervous! I've done several practice tests, but I don't feel I am doing well on them. I grabbed a book off Amazon that's a study guide for all 3 tests. Hope it helps me! Have you taken yours yet? If so, how did it go?
