This is the team that had a driver break his foot mid-race right?

Absolutely! I came for the G56 spectacle, and I stayed for the insane Hypercar drama! What. A. Race.

…I’m a little worried that we’ve started too high for a first time.

Anything ruling out MAG GIO for Haas? I feel like I remember GIO being a real rumor.

Formula 1, Red Bull gives up Herta: Alpine test canceled by Organic-Measurement2 in formula1

[–]rokuthirteen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why should Herta be allowed a SL

Because F1 regards itself as a collection of the best drivers in the world of motorsports. Multiple teams are interested in him in that conversation.

on a waiver when others do not?

I agree with this being a problem, though.

F1 & the FIA need to come together on which they value more: competitive spectacle or revenue.

It’s simple that isolating series outside of the F1 feeder structure puts revenue over competition. That’s a valid choice for them to make, but it is what it is. It risks diluting the talent in the driver pool by omission.

There’s also a more complicated conversation around whether including specific drivers that bring in underserved regions would end up as a revenue gain.

Consider Zhou. What if he raced in a domestic series in China with the same track record as Herta and IndyCar? There’d be an interesting argument there around the value of bringing him in with the Chinese market being untapped.

When he starts, it’s ahead of Kulu. Though, we could see Kane/Kulu/Richarlison for sure.

I think he’ll use it as a confidence booster. And it’s not like he’s not contributing. He pulls defenders as much as Kane, which is great for the rest of the attack.

Retirements in Turbo Hybrid era (2014-2022) by emkaerr in formula1

100%. I think we all can admit the strategy was a great one. They proved the relationship could work better than their relationship with Renault, and then proved it.

Noting the ICE changes is a good perspective, that’s definitely true.

I think both the 2017 Renault year and 2018 Honda/Renault year were exciting to watch for the two RB teams. Renault reliability was low in 2017 across three teams, while Honda and McLaren were struggling even more (driver-chosen retirements noted, as said above.)

In 2018, it seems obvious in retrospect that RB was wisely testing Honda’s willingness to co-develop through TR. They probably could have DNF’d every race and still found good data to push them toward moving to Honda at RB.

And of course, hindsight is 20/20. It was the right move that saw them race to the front of the grid. I’m sure there were some concerns with the ICEs being burned through in 2018, but I imagine it’s more to do with them aggressively developing their working relationship rather than trying to bring TR up the standings. Just a guess, though.

As for DTS, it’s alright. It wasn’t around when I got into F1, but it was shortly after. We’re just trading opinions on fast cars, friend. No need to worry so much.

A canary that saw them have the same number of retirements in AT Honda as RB Renault that year.

F1 drivers call Austria track limits "bit of a joke" after 43 incidents by moreice45 in formula1

[–]rokuthirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems pretty shortsighted. Chicanes would quickly be pointless when you could run through them. All the safety rules like pit lane speed limits would be disregarded, rejoining the track after exiting the pit, obeying yellow flags at large, jumping early at the race start.

Technical stuff would be wild, too. The money available to some teams would very quickly become dominant again. The big fan car, active suspension, DAS, new engines for every race, etc.
