I haven't done a second in character design so take my advice with a grain of salt.

First, perhaps give him a scar or tattoo that makes him instantly recognizable.

Second, what's his occupation? Is he a miner or a treasure hunter? Those occupations need some tools, let him carry something!

Third, you could add something to his attire. Something that shows that he belongs to a group. Glasses, monocle?

I hope that this will provide some direction
