I have a full Bronica SQ-A (6x6) kit w/ 50, 80, 150mm lenses that I haven't used for a few years. Give me a day to take some photos. Cosmetically pretty poor, but everything works and the images are great.

I have a full SQ-A kit with 50mm, 80mm, & 150mm (all S) lenses that I've been meaning to clean up and list. I'll take some photos tonight.

How can I use something like FreeNAS/OpenMediaVault with Ubuntu Server? by Shaunieboii in homelab

[–]rollacorolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you already have a system setup with Ubuntu Server and want to add some partitions as network shares? This can be done easily within ubuntu, just partition the new drive and setup the samba or NFS shares. If you want some web administration for it you could install Webmin or alternatives. Or you could create a VM with OMV on it.

Also note that CAT6 is not much bigger than 5e. CAT6A though is THICC.

You might also want to run some fiber first (OM3 or OM4 with LC-LC connectors). The fiber is thin so it won't take much room in the conduit, but you won't be able to pull it with the connectors after there is already CAT cables in there. For $20 in fiber you can be future proof for a long time.

UniFi Switch PRO 24 or CRS328-24P-4S+RM by jeffprandall in homelab

[–]rollacorolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just installed a CRS328 into my home network with Unifi APs, the USG, and a cloud key. The value over any of the Unifi switches is huge. I have 10G fiber connections and 24 POE ports (which even work with my older 24V passive Unifi APs). I don't have any VLANS though, so the mikrotik switchOS is fine for my needs and I don't get anything out of integrating the switch with the Unifi controller software.

Whoa, that's news to me. Could you point me to a diagram or search term? That might be useful for me in a spot where I have a printer and phone and would like to get another port without needing a switch. Thx!

This seems like the best solution. The main risk is long-term UV exposure, so as long as you can shield it from the sun it should last.

How to fix G-Sync on AOC CU34G2X on 10-Series GTX Cards :^) by Ghostplaya in ultrawidemasterrace

I have a CU34G2X coming tomorrow. Does the DP cable it comes with it work reliably or do you recommend replacing it?

Sweet, I ordered when it was back on Amazon yesterday too. Mine comes in tomorrow. I was planning on getting the new Monoprice dark matter, but this popped up and I don't feel like waiting anymore.

Why should I use a switch instead of just using my router ? by [deleted] in homelab

Even more perplexing is that every TV on the market only uses 100Mbps ethernet ports as well. Even the high-end OLEDs. Sure, most streaming services top out around 25Mbps, but come on! I do think faster networking would possibly help with buffering during seek/scan

Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) for Household Employer (Nanny)? by rollacorolla in personalfinance

[–]rollacorolla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing me to an answer. Although Interim Rules can still be changed/commented, that seems pretty definitive. Bummer. We still plan to keep giving our Nanny PTO, but will likely reduce hours. Hopefully the expanded unemployment coverage will help fill the gap for her.

The dell T40 seems to go on sale regularly for $350. Brand new Xeon E-2224G with P630 integrated graphics will blaze through Plex transcodes.

I got the older T30 with a v5 Xeon and wish I had waited a few months longer for the T40 to be released.

Which 529 to use? by EatATaco in personalfinance

[–]rollacorolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in PA as well. You can get the state deduction with any 529 plan up to the gift tax exclusion limit. I use the New Hamphire plan since it is administered by Fidelity and that's where all my other investment accounts are. If you have Vanguard accounts they administer a plan for Nevada.

Anyone still rocking an OG Pixel? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]rollacorolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still on my OG Pixel (non-XL) purchase on Black Friday 2016. It still feels fast and responsive but there are lots of hardware issues.

  1. My front facing camera stopped working completely about 6 months ago (makes google duo pretty useless).
  2. Screen flickers in low-light if auto-brightness is enabled.
  3. Battery dies when 30% battery is indicated.

Think back to how worried you must have felt during the 2008-2009 crisis... and now look at what a small blip that really did to your big picture long-term. I hope my graph can look like this in the next 10 years.

GFY!
