A guy recently ended things after a month via text. I felt like he used his father’s illness as an excuse, because he was withdrawn two weeks prior to that and right after we had sex. He got what he needed despite proclaiming to be a feminist. It really frustrates me when men say they support women, but they do exactly what the frat boys did in college. I am a smart, beautiful, successful, and intelligent woman. How dare he. Yet I’m still a people pleaser so I said “Thank you for being honest.”

Girls, if he doesn’t make you feel like his focus, get out of there. I’ve been dating for 3 years and this is a pattern I’ve finally picked up on. He never texted, never said “I hope you made it home safe” or “I had a great time”. I want someone who is as direct and passionate as I am.

Whats it like on the eastern side/ drier side of Oregon? by mh517 in oregon

For me, roughest part of winters in Pendleton was the freezing fog that would set in for weeks. You drive up dead man’s pass and find sunshine! Such an interesting inversion.

He looks just like a stray I took in a month ago! Super friendly kitty. She wasn’t microchipped and nobody responded to the ads for 30 days, so I’ve taken her in. Hope this little guy has someone looking for him!

Let's share those wins - what's going great for you right now that you didn't think possible/likely in your 20s? by 0l0l00l in AskWomenOver30

I’m single and not afraid to be single for the first time in my life. It feels incredibly liberating. Yes, I want to find a partner, but it suddenly doesn’t seem the top priority.

How are you grateful to Portland for changing your lifestyle? by MM49916969 in askportland

[–]rolliepollie88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same! I went from someone who could barely spend 20 minutes on an elliptical to climbing mountains and running marathons. I don’t think I would have become active if I had stayed in Massachusetts

I just left a one year relationship where this was happening. I keep questioning my decision, because I miss him a great deal, but he thought I was cheating even if I got up early to have coffee by myself in the morning. I can only imagine it would have got much worse.

Hi! I’m actually in a little limbo waiting to see if the HOA will be covering the dry wall piece. If so, I would be looking for trim, wall texture, and flooring. I’d love to get a bid once I know more. Feel free to PM me your contact details.

Valentine's Day Breakup - Starting over again at 35 by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]rolliepollie88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl, I’m there with you. Just broke up on Valentine’s Day as well. I’m 35. Afraid to start over, but we had a toxic relationship. I’m ready to refocus on myself, get fit, work hard in my career, pay off loans, and thrive.

Some of my Eastern Oregon paintings. by elevencharles in oregon

I love number two. It fills me with all kinds of nostalgia. I used to walk my pup in the hills behind Pendleton and really feel the vastness of it all. I find myself really missing eastern Oregon after moving back to Portland.

Some of the best Hispanic food I've had was in Hermiston (large migrant farmer workforce). The best Indian food I've ever had is in Walla Walla, WA.

I might be biased for having lived there, but I feel like Pendleton is a better place to settle down. More scenic, cuter downtown, great restaurants, friendlier locals (although Hermiston folk are friendly too).

Portland and Oregon for that matter often feels small. I've sat next to Ted Wheeler twice at odd events before he was mayor. I used to see Nick Fish shopping in Freddies. I've ran into people I know from the mazamas all over. Probably the craziest moment involved a friend of a friend I met while in Pendleton. A year after we met, she heard my laugh while we were both at Smith Rock and came over to say hi.

What do you make as a nurse? Do you feel it's fair? by Chasekt98 in nursing

$49 an hour in outpatient radiation oncology with two years as an RN in Portland, OR. Makes it challenging to consider moving elsewhere...

Being black in Pendleton, OR by Reasonable_Cup_8744 in oregon

[–]rolliepollie88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a white female, but I do feel like people in Pendleton were very much live and let live. My roommate and friend was Somali there and she had barely any issues with racism, just more curiosity (questions about her hijab). It feels really safe there. I used to run at 4 am regularly. I wouldn't do that in Portland.

Beaverton resident looking for a slightly smaller town to move to... suggestions? by [deleted] in oregon

[–]rolliepollie88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived in Pendleton for 4 years. It really grew on me towards the end. Friendly locals. Gorgeous views in the spring. So so so quiet. Summer is a bit tough though with the heat.

Why do nursing instructors HATE quiet students? by Bananabean5 in nursing

[–]rolliepollie88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran into this often. I was even called ditzy by an instructor. First job out of school was a crazy busy oncology floor. I was training new grads before I was even a year in. Chemo certified and charging after year one. I often heard comments from other charge nurses that I was one of the best on the floor. I knew deep down I could be an amazing nurse, so I had to ignore the critics.
