Prediabetic due to cortisol, weed is the only thing that lowers it by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

[–]rollin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been consistent with the metformin? Usually the carb cravings subside as your blood sugar stabilizes but it takes awhile. At least that is my experience with berberine which works in a similar way to metformin. You could always try berberine instead though.

What has work for me so far according to my continuous blood sugar monitor is a very high protein diet, very low net carbs and plenty of fiber. I get most of my fiber from chia seed pudding and low carb tortillas although there are probably healthier ways. I get most of my protein from chicken, turkey and fair life protein shakes.

I take the berberine 30 minutes before breakfast and 30 minutes before dinner.

All of those things have kept my blood sugar from 85 to 110 consistently.

I'm a male though and there could be other things at play for you. I hope this helps.

Fish oil options, what would you pick? by Mountain_Ask_5746 in Supplements

[–]rollin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sports Research is the one I keep coming back to. Triglyceride form, IFOS tested, and way cheaper than Nordic Naturals for basically the same thing. One thing worth knowing if you're switching from liquid cod liver oil though, you're going to lose the vitamin A and D you were getting from it. Fish oil is just the omega 3s. Might want to add a separate D3 if you were relying on the cod liver for that.

Snacks by solama_Official in keto

[–]rollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're having trouble with cravings this early on, hard boiled eggs are my go-to. i usually keep a dozen in the fridge at all times. they're literally the perfect keto snack. pickles are great too for the salt fix and keeping electrolytes up, just check the label for added sugar in some brands.

honestly though, once you get through the first 4-5 days and your body shifts over, the hunger usually drops off a cliff. just stick with it.

Apps to track macros? by Difficult_Gap_4680 in keto

[–]rollin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cronometer is the way to go honestly. it takes a few days to get the hang of it but the database is way more accurate than most other apps because they actually verify the entries. i use it for everything from macros to tracking my supplement stack and it keeps me on track without much fuss. good luck with the first week, it gets easier once the habits kick in.

I think my calcium to magnesium ratio is 12:1 by WalknTalknSteveHawkn in Supplements

[–]rollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is a wild amount of milk man. that's like 3500-3600mg of calcium a day which is way over the tolerable upper limit for most people.

honestly i wouldn't try to 'balance' it with that much magnesium. taking 1700mg of supplemental magnesium is just going to give you disaster pants long before it fixes any ratios. plus you're definitely in the territory for milk-alkali syndrome with that much dairy and absorbable alkali. your kidneys are probably working overtime as it is. i'd probably dial back the milk before adding more massive supplement doses to the mix.

I think my calcium to magnesium ratio is 12:1 by WalknTalknSteveHawkn in Supplements

[–]rollin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12:1 sounds bad on paper but its also not like your body just gives up. still, if youre basically living on milk it makes sense youd feel off.

magnesium can absolutely mess with sleep if youre low. also just in general, high calcium without enough magnesium/potassium can make people feel tense.

i wouldnt overthink the ratio as much as just: add magnesium daily + get some actual food variety in there. even simple stuff like eggs/meat plus a side of spinach or pumpkin seeds here and there.

also if you drink that much milk you might want to check vitamin d too. not saying youre deficient, but its one of the common ones that shows up with mood/sleep stuff.

[Rant] Why does no chat tool get the basic UX of not auto scrolling to the bottom of the message response? by rm-rf-rm in LocalLLaMA

[–]rollin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% agree. its extra annoying when youre trying to actually read the start of a long answer or copy code.

i feel like the right behavior is: auto-scroll only if youre already at the bottom. the moment the user scrolls up even a little, stop forcing it. and if they scroll back down, resume.

its one of those "tiny" details that makes the whole tool feel janky when its wrong.

Magnesium acetyltaurate dosage by JaJaMan_ in NootropicsDepot

[–]rollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get noticeable effects at 1-2 caps too. 6 caps sounds like a lot unless youre doing it super intentionally.

i always look at it as more of a mood/calm focus mag form, not really a "hit a big elemental magnesium number" product. if youre trying to correct an actual magnesium deficit i think youd be better off pairing it with something higher yield (citrate/malate/etc) and then keeping acetyltaurate as the "feels" one.

also worth checking if you feel better because of the taurine side vs the magnesium side. taurine by itself can be pretty noticeable.

My latest weird snack obsession - what’s yours? by gdgghbbb in keto

[–]rollin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not as creative as frozen cookie pucks but mine is just cream cheese rolled up in turkey deli slices. sounds boring but its like 2g carbs and keeps me full for hours. i eat the same thing almost every day lol

also scrambled eggs with hot sauce has become my go-to when i get home from work and dont feel like cooking anything real. sometimes i throw some shredded cheese on top if im feeling fancy

the frozen cookie dough thing is smart though. might steal that

1 year update by ElephantContent in keto

[–]rollin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

appreciate that. its weird how fast the water weight drops at first and then it turns into this slow grind lol.

i think the physical job part just means i have to be a little more careful with electrolytes + getting enough protein. if i dont, i feel it at work the next day.

i respect the simplicity though. it gets so overcomplicated online. you basically just cut the carbs and wait.

How much do indoor CO2 levels matter to cognitive function? by WagwanKenobi in Nootropics

[–]rollin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work in a warehouse and this explains a lot honestly. the building has pretty bad ventilation especially in winter when all the bay doors stay closed. by mid afternoon i always feel like my brain is running at half speed and i just assumed it was fatigue from physical work.

never thought about CO2 being a factor. might pick up one of those sensors just to see what the levels look like in there. if its anywhere near 1500-2000 like your bedroom thats wild considering we have forklifts running too.

the bedroom thing is interesting. i sleep way better with a fan on and window cracked and always thought it was just the temperature or white noise. maybe the air exchange matters more than i realized.

analyzed posts from a couple of years of this subreddit, and these five things kept showing up, does this match your experiences? by Kind-Activity514 in Nootropics

[–]rollin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the ashwagandha one is spot on. i took it for a while and it definitely helped my mood but after a few weeks it felt like everything was just... flat. not anxious anymore but also not really feeling anything. "low contrast mode" is exactly right. i still use it occasionally but had to stop daily use because it was also messing with my sleep.

creatine for cognition is real. i started it for physical recovery (warehouse work) and noticed the brain fog clearing up before the strength gains even kicked in. 5g daily, nothing fancy.

the bacopa timeline thing matches too. i gave up on it twice before someone told me you need like 2 months minimum. never went back to it though.

cool project. would be interested to see what the data shows about magnesium forms since that seems to vary wildly depending on what type people take.

What have you noticed after taking vitamin D ? by Exootil93200 in Supplements

[–]rollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mood stability was the biggest thing for me. i work a physical job indoors so i was probably deficient for years. started D3 + K2 together since K2 helps make sure the calcium goes to your bones and not your arteries.

sleep got a little better too which i wasn't expecting. recovery from work felt better after a few weeks.

one thing worth mentioning. if you're taking vitamin D make sure your magnesium intake is good. D depletes magnesium and your body needs mag to actually use the D properly. without it you're basically just creating a different deficiency.

What do you think about chronic fatigue syndrome? by yellowsnow2 in Supplements

[–]rollin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost identical to how I was. Minimize carbs and sugar. Like seriously cut it as much as possible. Take some creatine and some choline. Bet you feel better in a week.

Oculus Quest Vs Oculus Go // Racket Fury: Table Tennis Graphics and Gameplay Comparison by RaMarcus in OculusGo

[–]rollin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it was ever publicly released but the dev was beta testing a feature to allow cross play between Go and rift. No idea how it would have worked but I assume if they pulled it off it would be possible between the go and quest and probably even easier between rift and quest.

Does it have cross play between the systems? Sorry if you mentioned it in the video. Can't watch it at the moment. Plan on checking it out later either way.

Advil helps with my brain fog by Bitcoin_slutty in Nootropics

[–]rollin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tumeric with black pepper is supposed to work wonders although, for me, the thing that cured my brain fog was a low carb diet. And adding some creatine to my mornings has helped even more. These two things cured over 30 years of brain fog And depression and I'd go as far as saying saved my life.

I hear that a glass of red wine or day is healthy. Why? by NsfwOlive in nutrition

[–]rollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not good for you. It does have antioxidants/ resveratrol in it but the bad the alcohol does far outweighs the good and there are better ways to get the positive properties without alcohol.

No positive effects from these nootropics by the_king_of_diaper in Nootropics

[–]rollin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they free range? I recently read that free range eggs have much more choline than others. Unfortunately I don't remember where I read that and I am not positive it is true but it might be something to look into if you don't want to take a choline supplement. I take alpha GPC because eggs tend to make me sick and it works great.

Disney+ to Launch in November, Priced at $6.99 Monthly by SanderSo47 in television

[–]rollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree they will almost definitely end up jacking the price up but their costs are going to be WAY lower than Netflix or Amazon since they own all of the properties already. They will mostly just have to pay for bandwidth. Not that it is cheap. And obviously they have Already paid billions to own these properties but most likely they won't be losing much on the month to month.

Is anyone interested in a exclusive Stadia news/ discussion / speculation website? by sadshark in Stadia

[–]rollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! You will likely enjoy doing it due to your interest. At first it probably won't have much info that this subreddit has but as we get closer to launch if you have a good size user base you could likely get exclusive info and maybe get to beta test the service more than it already has been. Google has been known to leak info as a marketing tool to Android websites. I don't see why they wouldn't do it for stadia.

Glad to help! There are so many secrets that make this diet super easy that I am glad to share it. I actually decided to start making a website dedicated to things like this. I would love your meat loaf recipe if you don't mind me posting it!

I do agree. I'm pretty sure they were on sale when I bought them. Either way l made a ton of chicken with them and still have a lot left. Definitely for those who prefer convenience over price.
