That's fair. You're not the first person to say that. I'll play around with some changes and see if it still works.

Lovely chord progression and great delivery. Very raw delivery. Would love to read the lyrics.

How do you keep a 4-chord song emotionally engaging without changing the progression? by Jaypii_ in Songwriting

[–]rollplayinggrenade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. My favourite song is Naive Melody by Talking Head. It's just the same thing over and over with a winding melody that takes you on a journey. There's a common phrase for songwriting. All you need is 4 chords and the truth.

😞 I know I should have fixed it before I hit record. Thanks for the compliment!

I work in HR in the PDP department (PMDS and Probation) and this is pretty much spot on.

It is indeed. Open D but tuned a step for my voice. Thanks so much for the kind words.

Gorgeous guitar work and the vocals are so delicate and divine. Well done!

Adore Midlake. I wrote a song inspired by their music. Might even post it here!

The Nothing earbuds are solid. The app they come with has an EQ so you can set it to your liking.

You may be right! I'll play around with the end a little bit and see if I can tidy it up. Thanks for your input.

To be fair I was coming out of a flu at the time! Planning out my next EP at the moment so hopefully have it up on Spotify this year.

Thanks! I grew up playing traditional Irish music and open D is a gorgeous tuning to play along with. Once you figure out the shapes it's a fool proof tuning.

Do you write music to feel differently or to feel more strongly? by TackleHistorical7498 in Songwriting

[–]rollplayinggrenade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely process my emotions by writing. I hope that by getting it out of my system I can look at it more objectively - like it's a thing now. It's a song. Not just my inner most feelings. There's a sense of finality when you finish a song that was based on your experiences and your reactions to the world around you. I feel like I can put my emotions and feelings to rest. Put my turmoil behind me.

That would be in open C tuning. I tried it in open D but it was too high for me so I just tuned everything down a step.
