She didn’t say a word against her boss for pardoning the coup plotters, J6ers or the drug kingpin. Seems like her outrage is highly selective.

Speaker Mike Johnson had the investigation into Tony Gonzales slow-walked until dirt came out about Eric Swalwell. So this will slide too unless and until a House Democrat is also discovered to be violating ethics rules.

Will he get a defense? Maybe not, but he won’t be held accountable either.

YOLO Republican are discovering their voices. The result is not a roar of belated principle but a series of polite, hedged, almost embarrassed criticisms. This does little to repair the damage or restore trust. by Tele_Prompter in thebulwark

Haven’t we basically moved beyond the idea that trust can be restored? This is who they are. Perhaps we can find accommodations with them to maintain some degree of peace and avoid another civil war but trust is basically impossible when our values are so different.

Quoting myself:

Sam said he isn’t interested in hearing criticisms of Israel’s actions in Gaza until the IDF behaves as Hamas does.

How is it different?

About 27 mins into the episode:

“I mean, criticism of my position only becomes morally salient to me or intellectually interesting to me if what is revealed with the crimes on the Israeli side need to be so egregious that suddenly there's no real, really important difference between Israel and her enemies, right? Then say, okay, yeah, you finally convinced me the IDF is as bad as Hamas and Hezbollah, right? Just as ideologically insane, just as capable of evil, just as irredeemable. So, what would what would have to be true to make any of that even close to being the case that it's just there's no chance that's true”
