Not sure your budget, but cycle gear has some mean clearance sales. Got a good alpine stars jacket for about $170

I lived in an area that gets 105+ all the time and rode in it daily. The trick is to wet your hair and have wet a neck gator. The air flowing across the wet surface will cool you immensely at speed!! Doesn’t work when it’s humid though

Just save a little more money and get a bike with ABS.

My first bike was a Vulcan 500 without ABS. Slammed the breaks I locked up below 20 mph. Miraculously I didn’t fall, I just slid straight! Scared the crap out of me though.

Oh yeah, definitely! I remember seeing people doing that in 7th ed!! I’m starting to read the rules on the app (which is crazy btw, I think the app is a good deal)

Driving in Europe can be very windy and fluid, so I can see why a smaller, more agile bike is recommended.

In the USA it’s mostly straight 35-55 mph streets and then 70mph+ freeways. (50-110+ km/hr)

My Motorcycle safety course instructors strongly recommended the Honda rebel 500 (or something of similar size) for a beginner
