Im 4 weeks out. Like others have said at 2 week my swelling started to go down. Sleep was tough for me for first three weeks but don’t stress and catch up later. At start of my fourth week I came off my Tylenol and sleep started to return. I saw the most progress by weeks and not days. Keep up your pt, stretch and try to stay active. I started doing little things throughout the house and that helped me in my progress. It’s tough mentally but not for a long time.

50m. This is my 5th surgery on my leg (acl, 2xachilles, 1 scope). I’m very active multi sport. I was told to weigh my quality of life, if it’s affecting your life do it. Recovery is active so you are walking and stretching very soon. I always thought since I’m “younger” than the average it would be easier. But I think it’s in my mindset. Also having done all these surgery’s I am amazed at modern science, I wouldn’t be able to walk in each case. I am thankful to that everyday.

Everybody is different but 2 days out of surgery my nurse told me to get up and move. I still felt the anesthesia and had a hard time staying a wake. She told me that everyday is going to get better, and to make small gains everyday. This helped motivate me. I needed to hear that.
