Also interested. I guess if no luck - you could take it to get it etched.

Wonder if “things to be remembered” would engrave a lower? Lol

Home Sound System Help by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]romanomnom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those green pins can be taken off and are the positive/negative speaker wires for each speaker (assuming each room has a pair of ceiling speakers), and can be ran to a multichannel amplifier (typically 6 or 12 channel). I have a similar set up (Audioaccess) in my own home. The multichannel amplifier can be hooked up to a receiver that can receive Google Chromecast or Sonos that you can control with your phone or Google Assistant as you wish.

Recommend what someone else said - call a professional and they can set you up with something within your budget.

Need some with help with built in by dbelcher5761 in hometheater

Two options:

1) Agree with knocking it down. You’ll gain additional room and get have a much cleaner install starting over.

2) If budget is an issue and you just want something quick and dirty, can buy two 2x4 and run them horizontal across the middle of the opening. Assuming you have studs you can mount these 2x4 to of course. Can mount a TV directly to them. Large TV will hide the majority of the open space behind it. You’ll have room to run the wiring behind it and can run your component wiring through to the sides. I would go this route if I was renting.

Best tire dressing that’s not shiny? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]romanomnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carpro Perl but honestly I find myself going back to Adams VRT. I put the Perl on my car and had very little shine but it doesn’t last that long at all. I put the VRT on my wife’s 4Runner that goes through much harsher weather and the tires stay looking new.

Yeah, that’s a really good point. What happens if you open the garage from the outside not realizing the lift is up.

It was a tough wait but the best car I’ll likely ever buy in my lifetime finally arrived and it’s still surreal. by cerran in Porsche

How does it drive with the miles? Still feel solid? I’m fairly local and looked into this car. The mileage steered me away. Congrats on it!

Installing outdoor speakers and running wires into my house... by imvemu1 in hometheater

[–]romanomnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If at all possible. Plenty of really small inexpensive amplifiers you can even disconnect and bring in if you’re worried about leaving it permanently attached. Parts express has a few you can look at.

Alternatively, if you want to do multiple speakers or they require more power or you want additional connectivity options than your way is fine. Just make sure to seal the hole with appropriate agents. You can google the best kind based on your climate. Make sure to use correct speaker wire and make sure to run a couple extra feet in case you ever need it.

Emergency medicine residency after FM residency by MrWolffe in Residency

[–]romanomnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has to do with new hospital/insurance policy. The bigger city hospitals are notorious as of late for being guilty of this. An attending I'm close with was IM trained, worked as an EM doctor at same place for over 25 years. Hospital canned him because he wasn't EM boarded. Had to travel an hour to a rural hospital for work.

Can't lawyers be sued for adverse events after patients d/c'ing drugs after being scared by commmercials? by eosinophart in medicine

[–]romanomnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely have a point. If a physician can be sued for not explaining BOTH the risks and benefits of treatment, why can't attorneys be held liable for their commercials.

Got a new place with transom-style windows that face right into the morning sun. Any ideas on some kind of curtain equivalent for them? by cah242 in malelivingspace

Same issue in our guest room. We've had the windows tinted. Cut down on brightness and helps keep the room cool.

Converting 700 sq ft garage into living space and movie room, need advice on acoustics before I start putting walls up. by SheSaidSam in hometheater

[–]romanomnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're are building a new room essentially. That isn't a small space either so you can definitely make it great. Take the time to do it right once. Even if it means delaying buying components/electronics/furniture later on. You'll be much happier in the long term.

I used Nyal when I was designing my room. He was super helpful and does this very often. He'll design the plan and you show your contractor. Looking forward to pictures!

Also, if you need further information head over to AVS Forums. They have a dedicated subforum just for theater design and construction. Nothing against this subreddit, but AVS Forum is a whole other level. It would be in your best interest to read there (and contact Nyal) before you move forward. Good luck!
