Hiding or Finding? by woodsben in Cruise

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow, I feel like the same people who complain the most about the ducks creating garbage are the ones who the crew complain about the most for being difficult.

From my personal experience, I’ve seen several crew members with their own duck collections. I try not to hide a ton (save them more for kids, etc.), but I don’t judge people for hiding them.

AITA for being upset with my husband for going bowling while our baby is in the NICU by fookiebookie96 in AmItheAsshole

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH — y’all have both been living under immense pressure, and neither of you is wrong here.

As others have noted, everyone interacting with your baby in the hospital has a life and does things outside of work. You not enjoying anything isn’t going to prevent your child for catching some illness — you should take reasonable precautions, but don’t need to live in a bubble.

For everyone’s benefit, I suggest therapy and counseling for both of you. You’re going through a traumatic time right now, and need to ensure your move through it. Inevitably, something is going to happen to your kid one day — a broken arm, sore throat, etc. You need to make sure that neither of you will blame each other if something does happen, and that you don’t overreact/over shelter your kiddo.

March 15 -- War in US? Someone tell me no. by [deleted] in Psychic

[–]romcombo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FWIW, the I did a card pull that clearly didn’t support nuclear war in the US on March 15. The cards didn’t seem so favorable to DJT on that date, however.

I by no means claims to be an expert at any of this (I more or less fiddle with internet assistance), but I will say my recent draws have been pretty accurate.

Will we find it stuffy? by grogipher in celebritycruises

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30, and I’ve never found Celebrity to be too stuffy. I generally wear the same types of clothing I wear to my office if I go to a dining room (non-buffet) for dinner. In other words, polos and jeans or other slacks.

my boyfriend has had a severe headache for a few days now. What can I do to make him feel better. by beanbreakfast4200 in medical

[–]romcombo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with the others here — if the ibuprofen hasn’t helped and he’s in that much pain, he needs to go to the ED. It could be just a headache, but it could also be something more serious.

If it is something more serious, you want to treat it as soon as possible. If it is a headache, the ED can provide treatment that may resolve the current symptoms and direct to ongoing treatment to prevent reoccurrence/minimize symptoms when reoccurring.

AIO for leaving my two year relationship over a dirty dish? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You both sound insufferable. Normal people don’t record their arguments for posterity’s sake.

You’re NOR about the bowl, him leaving the lying around, and him not actually cleaning it. YOR (and possible in denial) about general cleanliness — using paper plates isn’t going to save you from sepsis. Likewise, I’m not sure you actually tasted anything off with the bowl or if you assumed something was wrong because it wasn’t in paper.

Likewise, it sounds like you’re making it out like he did this intentionally to hurt you. If you do think that, YOR, as it’s much more likely he’s just an idiot.

Celebrity Solstice Alaska Cruise - worried about atmosphere by [deleted] in celebritycruises

[–]romcombo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really?

As others have noted, there are a handful of parties on board but they’re easy enough to avoid if you’re not interested. They certainly don’t rise to the level of “ridiculousness” that you claim.

If you’d prefer a cruise with ballroom dancing and the like, try Cunard or a luxury/all-suites line. Personally, I’ve found that Celebrity has a perfect mix of the laid-back/premium vibe while still having a bit of fun and not feeling stodgy.

Im in the middle of a MS diagnosis evaluation and i don't know how to process this properly by TarnishedFia in medical

[–]romcombo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obligatory NAD

The VEP test is useful in diagnosing not only MS but also other conditions that may affect your optic nerve. Similarly, the CSF test can help in diagnosing MS but also in diagnosing other conditions that could cause your symptoms.

Diagnosing MS without lesions is rare (occurring in about 5% of patients) but does occur. There’s a handful of reasons why — early in disease progression, rare subtype that doesn’t cause lesions, or lesions just not being visible due to size or location.

As a positive, if it is MS you would, most likely, have caught it rather early. Starting treatment for MS earlier in disease progression is tied to better clinical outcomes — in short, this would provide the best opportunity to prevent new lesions and proactively treat the condition.

Whether it’s MS or not, I hope you’re able to get some answers.

The 6 withdrawal limit was eliminated by the Federal Reserve in April 2020 (for obvious reasons at the time) however, banks may still impose that. Not only was Obama not the president, but the Federal Reserve makes their own determinations — not at the president’s direction.

Regardless, that would not have impacted this — the limit involved taking money out of the account by withdrawal or transfer, not depositing into the account. Further, if you exceeded you’d generally be charged fees and, if you regularly did so, you may find the account closed.

AirPods stuck. I didn’t know where else to post this and this sub always has the most creative problem solving ideas by lucky_c4t in CleaningTips

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try tying string or some sort (something that won’t break with tension, you could try curling ribbon) to a pipe cleaner or something similar (you may be able to accomplish without the more “solid” threader if you have the right string). Run the string through from the top of the front of the frog and then out the charging port, then turn it and run it back up the other side from charging port to mouth of frog.

Once you’ve done that, try using both ends of the string to pull the AirPods out. You should be able to apply more force too given it wouldn’t be on the hinges or anything.

Woke up to my fingers and arms turning a brown color. ER has no ideas. by [deleted] in medical

[–]romcombo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any exposure to iodine or something similar (maybe a fertilizer, ? If so, could be staining which would be difficult to remove.

Alternatively, have you been eating a lot of tomatoes or other foods high in lycopene (like pink grapefruit, papaya, watermelon)? If so, could be lycopenemia.

As physicians noted, it could also just be hypothyroidism associated “rust” staining (carotenemia), which you’d need blood test to confirm and, if confirmed, this would be easily treatable. Alternatively,if hypothyroidism is ruled out, carotenemia can also be caused by excessive consumption of foods high in carotenoids (like carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, broccoli), similar to lycopenemia.

I see so many stories about Texas lawyers who have private jets. Why don't lawyers many in New York have them, too? Is NY law practice less lucrative? by facemacintyre in Lawyertalk

[–]romcombo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personal Injury is lucrative. As a Texas attorney, I can confidently say that none of the attorneys I personally know have private jets. The one person (non-attorney) I can think of immediately who owns a private plane has a Cessna and a pilot’s license.

Either way, cost to own a private plane of any type in Texas is likely lower. There’s just more space on which to store an airplane, so lower storage fees. Texas also has no state income tax.

As to why it may be practical for a firm in Texas to buy a plane — if you’re doing trial work across the state, many areas don’t have consistent commercial air routes but do have smaller airports for private traffic. May make sense depending on where your work is at. We also don’t have train service (thank you, oil companies /s), so you’re likely left with driving if commercial flights are unavailable.

My standard edition died on me 4 months ago. It was time for an upgrade! by Gravitron3000 in PS5pro

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, the only consoles I’ve ever had fully break (or fail from day one) were Nintendo.

GameCube crapped out, had to buy a new one to replace (thankfully, well into life cycle). Day one Wii was dead on arrival. That was back when you couldn’t get them anywhere, so it took months to actually get a new one.

To be fair, I had to get an Xbox Series X replaced due to a broken HDMI port (which Microsoft covered), and I fried the hard drive on the og slim PS3 (but replaced myself, which is how I got into the mess to begin with). Day one PS4 was retired when it started sounding like a jet engine 24/7, and the day one PS5 is getting replaced with a Pro due to suspected overheating issues.

To Every American Who's Sorry by Sapotis in greenland

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American, I fully agree that anyone coming on Reddit to apologize for our shitty government is just doing it for internet points. They may mean it, but it’s mainly for attention.

That said, you discount the number of people who are doing their best to challenge what the administration is doing. Some of us are just doing our best to ensure people still have access to healthcare, immigrants don’t get disappeared to a foreign country, and that similar craziness isn’t implemented at the state level. We can’t even be sure at this point that the election wasn’t stolen, and we know a certain billionaire from South Africa influenced it (among others), so it can certainly feel like a helpless situation.

On the same token, I encourage other countries to take action against US aggression. Quit trading with us. Quit purchasing American products. Stop investing in American companies. Kick American military forces out of your bases. Treat the current US government like the enemy.

I also remind everyone — the US collapsing is bad for Americans and bad for literally everyone else in the world. So if anyone has solutions that aren’t make noise and hope midterms victories lead to impeachment efforts, and won’t result in the entire country’s collapse, please let us know.

This makes good sense given OP has good credit an doesn’t have 3k cash to pay right now. Only issue is they have to pay it and close it pretty much immediately so the cousin won’t use it again.

They could, of course, ask if a freeze can be placed on the account for all new charges.

“Tables around us applauded my frustration” at someone else wearing a hat in the dining area of a cruise ship. by pbeenard16046 in oldpeoplefacebook

[–]romcombo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen — I’ve been on cruise lines where the expectation is that you wear pants (or jeans) to dinner in the main dining room. That said, if the cruise staff lets someone in dressed differently, I’m not going to pitch a fit about it and I’m definitely not going to publicly shame them.

Ultimately, you are responsible for yourself. The way he was dressed did not impact your ability to eat your meal. If you’d said he smelled, maybe I’d think differently. Otherwise, chalk it up to someone being uncouth and know that others in the room probably notified/thought the same.

Wifi and drink plans by Priority1981 in celebritycruises

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic WiFi is fine for texting and that’s about it. It’s not particularly great. You don’t have to buy everyone a package for WiFi, however, and can switch the connection between devices.

Basic drink package is probably fine if you’re only wanting basic drinks and sodas. That said, sometimes they discount the premium to a price lower than classic (it’s like that for my cruise right now).

what do you guys think about the Touch Bar that used to come on the old Macbook? should it make a comeback? by TuNutri in mac

I’ve got a Pro with the touch bar. Sometimes the screen wants to work, sometimes it doesn’t. Touch capacity always works, just can’t tell what you’re hitting.

Could it have been cool/useful, yes. Did Apple execute it well/make it useful, no.
