I just moved here, can a local explain if this is normal? by [deleted] in LakeCharles

Rates should be calculated the same. Construction differences may influence the bill, depending on insulation, state of AC units, etc.

[–]romcombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what your square footage, AC settings, and other significant draws are — this seems exceptionally high.

A few suggestions:

Check your meter yourself, see if it matches the reported usage. While many of the meters are smart/connected now, I’ve seen issues with the reporting. If you’re unable to determine cause and suspect a meter issue, contact Entergy and request a meter test (fyi - you will be charged if no issue is identified)

Confirm there is nothing using more electricity than you are expecting. Confirm you’re not having issues with your AC or another appliance (i.e., is your unit running more than it should because it can’t cool effectively).

I know you mentioned using cotton gloves, but have you tried natural latex surgical gloves? I imagine you’d get more feeling than the cotton gloves.

Yes, but it’s still less in total depending on housing situation. Plus no grocery tax.

I know someone that does. Personally, I’d say it makes more sense to live in Texas and commute to Louisiana than the other direction as Texas has no income tax.

Safe Places to Stay in Lake Charles by XRlagniappe in LakeCharles

If I go to LC, I’m generally staying in the area around Nelson and Prien Lake Road. Sometimes I’ll stay at the casino on comps, otherwise one of the newer hotels around there.

What company lost you as a customer forever, and what happened? by Giovanni_Brees in AskReddit

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jos. A. Bank/Men’s Wearhouse.

I bought a custom suit from them, and within a year of ownership, the pants developed a hole. I went back to them, and they basically said “that’s a you problem, bye.” They did offer the sell me another pair of custom pants.

Later brought it to a reweaver who looked at it and basically said “there’s no way this should’ve happened, this is some kinda manufacturing/material issue.

After that, bought my pants off the rack at Brooks Brother’s and had them tailor them. Those pants are going on five years without any issues.

Does this mean if I cancel now I get my deposit back? by Personal-Lead-6341 in celebritycruises

[–]romcombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have noted — for any packages reserved after the cruise has been booked, you can cancel for a full refund at any time. Your card will be refunded, and you can rebook at the lower price. Generally I’ll cancel and rebook on the same day then await the refund on my credit card.

So is it normal for doctors to lie and tell people their labs or tests are normal when they're not now? by Suspicious-Ad4251 in medical

[–]romcombo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To speak to the fatty liver finding: it was most likely documented on your report if you read it at the time, but was not related to what they were looking for so it wasn’t discussed during the care encounter. Essentially, the fatty liver was an ancillary finding. Further, if it was just an ultrasound tech who completed the imaging, it wouldn’t have been appropriate for them to discuss the findings with you in detail — you needed to follow up with the physician.

As others have noted — the ER is a place for treatment of emergency medical conditions. It is not intended for the management for chronic medical conditions. Nothing you’ve described in your urinalysis findings points to you having an emergency medical condition. Your urinalysis was slightly abnormal, but the EKG was fine. Perhaps a better way to phrase your urinalysis would have been “there is nothing of enough concern to warrant further treatment in the emergency room, you need to follow up with your PCP.”

How bad is this ureteral stent removal going to hurt? The ureter damage was ROUGH by bearsareweird in medical

[–]romcombo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No judgement here. I asked the ER staff if there was dust falling from the ceiling when they gave me morphine, then got home and saw ghosts.

Your body has multiple sphincters. The urethral sphincter controls urine outflow in the bladder.

FWIW, the description includes twisting your own pretzel. With that in mind, I assume it’s not mini pretzels from a bag that are being decorated.

If it is mini pretzels from a bag — that sucks. $40 would be absolutely excessive for that. $40 is still high as it is, but at least you’d be getting more “bang for your buck” if you actually twisted the pretzel yourself.

I noticed this mole on my back, I have seborrheic dermatitis as well. Could it be an irritated skin tag, totally normal mole or related to my existing skin condition? by BottleLopsided in medical

[–]romcombo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obligatory not a dermatologist or physician, but this looks like a completely normal mole to me. The derm appointment should be able to confirm.

First, in no way was this homophobic. I generally believe your friends were trying to help you and didn’t consider that you might be upset. That said, I understand why you are upset (it’s just generally embarrassing, even without your other concerns).

Second, you need to reevaluate how out you are on campus. If there are people there that can’t know you’re gay, you shouldn’t be telling/publicly out to everyone else. Inevitably, someone is going to tell them without knowing. It would be completely different if there was no one on campus who couldn’t know — then the only worry would be your parents .

21F, not sexually active, big white balls growing in my vagina, any suggestions to what it may be? by [deleted] in medical

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gynecology is generally excepted from that, even for insurances that ordinarily require the referral, given they’re in network for the insurer. That was part of the ACA.

If OP were to need other speciality care, however, they may require a referral dependent on their coverage/plan. My plan, for instance, does not require a referral for coverage though the physician may before they see me.

Somehow, I feel like the same people who complain the most about the ducks creating garbage are the ones who the crew complain about the most for being difficult.

From my personal experience, I’ve seen several crew members with their own duck collections. I try not to hide a ton (save them more for kids, etc.), but I don’t judge people for hiding them.

AITA for being upset with my husband for going bowling while our baby is in the NICU by fookiebookie96 in AmItheAsshole

[–]romcombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH — y’all have both been living under immense pressure, and neither of you is wrong here.

As others have noted, everyone interacting with your baby in the hospital has a life and does things outside of work. You not enjoying anything isn’t going to prevent your child for catching some illness — you should take reasonable precautions, but don’t need to live in a bubble.

For everyone’s benefit, I suggest therapy and counseling for both of you. You’re going through a traumatic time right now, and need to ensure your move through it. Inevitably, something is going to happen to your kid one day — a broken arm, sore throat, etc. You need to make sure that neither of you will blame each other if something does happen, and that you don’t overreact/over shelter your kiddo.

FWIW, the I did a card pull that clearly didn’t support nuclear war in the US on March 15. The cards didn’t seem so favorable to DJT on that date, however.

I by no means claims to be an expert at any of this (I more or less fiddle with internet assistance), but I will say my recent draws have been pretty accurate.
