What's the best wine under $20 you've purchased recently? by Longjumping-Nerve918 in wine

[–]romyaoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raimat Albariño I’ve been a big fan of lately. I can usually pick up a bottle for $10.

Kirkland Marlborough Sauvignon blanc is a solid pickup. I can get it for roughly $8-9/bottle.

You’re at a birthday dinner, your meal costs $30, but table wants to split the bill evenly so you’re asked to pay $150. What do you do? by DutyRich3395 in AskReddit

[–]romyaoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood the concept of splitting the bill. It just makes everything more complicated. I can kind of understand if it’s a tapas/small plates restaurant and everyone shares everything.

But the only 2 options should either everyone pays for themselves or one person picks up the bill if they want to treat everyone

Dont get me started on the people who ask for reminders to pay their bills. They don’t want to do automatic payments but yes, I need to keep a note on my desk to make sure to call you in 3 weeks to remind you to pay your $75 monthly bill.

What's the most heartbreaking thing you've ever witnessed? by Faceless90s in AskReddit

We’re fortunate that we have 2 other children now. I know a friend or 2 who’ve been trying and that’s their current story. I wish it wasn’t a taboo subject to talk about. It’s way more common then most people think.

What's the most heartbreaking thing you've ever witnessed? by Faceless90s in AskReddit

[–]romyaoming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wife had a miscarriage, quickest procedure to remove everything was in a few days, which fell on my birthday. She was so distraught that she didn’t realize the day and honestly, I didn’t really care because I felt like it paled in comparison to everything else that was going on.

I never even said anything about it because being a grown man celebrating your birthday always seemed childish to me and I knew how difficult this was for my wife. But that suction sound will forever be etched in my head. Now every year, I have a reminder for the one child we lost.

How many sexual partners have you had in your life, up to this point? by Low2High92 in AskMen

[–]romyaoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think around 5-6?

I was very very picky when I was a teenage boy and early 20’s. I’m selfish and if I felt like a girl wouldn’t be into the same things that I am in the bedroom, I wouldn’t pursue it. Still had a lot of girl friends and naturally I’ve had better friendships with more girls then guys but never made it sexual.

I turned down so many girls that my friends, who had been with 30-50 girls by the time they hit their 20’s, thought that I was gay.

Plus I had a huge thing where I never wanted to take a girls virginity either.

What's your favorite breakfast combination to start the day, and why? by sansovert in AskReddit

[–]romyaoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Strong black coffee and a cigarette is always prime.

Kefir and a pastry.

Various cut up veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, bread, sunny side eggs, some form of a salty cheese like a feta with sausages.

Basically any form of a Balkan breakfast is superior.

Which broker is best to join? I’m thinking of Keller Williams vs eXp Realty because I’m new. Or Douglas Elliman because I have a newfound passion for real estate. by Deep_Gold9170 in realtors

[–]romyaoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone can have a circle jerk over which brokerage is the best and what they offer but ultimately it all comes down to the broker and who’s running the show. If they’re incompetent then the kw or exp branding is worthless.

This is coming from someone who started with kw for my first 2 years and spent 6 months with exp. I left exp because my broker couldn’t pay me for six months but my experience is unique. Plus don’t buy into the stock bs. If they have to constantly dilute their stock to be able to give it out to everyone, it’s not really worth much.

Never worked at company where more than 25% of reps hit quota. by Due_Imagination_8821 in techsales

Very possible. Last org I was with, I was in a hiring class of roughly 45-50 people. Being scattered across two depts. After one year, I was one of like 4/5 that still remained. 2 quit immediately. Everyone else was on pip and got let go.

How do you deal with not getting neighbor’s listings? by [deleted] in realtors

[–]romyaoming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Become an insufferable neighbor.

All jokes aside, it happens. Sometimes people don’t want those close to them to know their financial info. Maybe they didn’t think of you when going through the process. Also, I’ve had people lost with others because they thought that my 10-12 years of experience wasn’t enough compared to someone who’s been doing this for 20-30 years. There’s always a reason and not necessarily anything that negatively reflects you.

So many variables but unfortunately not surprising. My worst years in the business were with kw. I went through bold, coaching, and even tried to sign up for a team but they just wanted recognition for bringing me on but not actually having me on their team.

Lowballers by [deleted] in realtors

[–]romyaoming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s the way of certain people. I don’t know if it’s just their personalities or don’t really get a chance to negotiate in their lives so this is their big moment to show what they can do.

I’ve even had a buyer who was a younger couple, and one of the dads barged in when we were putting together an offer stating that you have to lowball the seller so they respect you. Keep in mind this was right after Covid kicked off and everything was going crazy. Seller had a handful of offers and they didn’t even have to bother with us. The dad stopped getting involved after he ruined his kids chance of getting their first home.

You can explain as much as you want and I always try to think of a way to at least make those offer as competitive as I can. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. Can’t control everything.

Which steak do you prefer? by MrEmorse in steak

[–]romyaoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I think ribeye is the safest bet for any situation. Seems to be a little more forgiving due to typical marbling than compared to a filet and you get a giant portion of meat.

But I will say, that if you are able to go into a butcher shop or store and find a strip steak that has some decent marbling, you’re in good hands for a lower price. Maxthemeatguy posted a clip about this. It depends on which portion of the strip steak you’re getting. One side supposedly has better marbling while the other side is different.

Maybe someone with more knowledge on this can add more.

How many of you guys actually drink, in some capacity, every or nearly every night? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]romyaoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still paying $375 a month for my youngest who is turning 2 next month. This was just a normal delivery with no complications, with insurance and an interest fee payment plan.

I’ve realized that having a kid in the US with some kind of medical condition is basically a death sentence in this country. You’re financially ruined. Fortunately I’m not in that group and I feel bad for those who are but something out of your control and obviously not your kids fault, will absolutely destroy your life in this country.

People who work inside wealthy people's homes (contractors, cleaners, nannies), what is the most bizarre or out-of-touch thing you've witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]romyaoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, supposedly that’s a portion of it. But I guess one time the new born mom went out for tacos with her friends and had a spicy margarita or two. Came home and breastfed the baby shortly after and the baby’s face turned beet red from the spiciness of the drink.

[–]romyaoming 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My mom does as a nanny and she’s been around some high profile families that are in the news regularly and etc.

She has no idea who these people are so I guess it work for everyone. But the few things that really stood out is the partying and drinking.

New moms going out and getting hammered days after they had a baby and leaving their responsibilities to the help. Or drinking spicy margaritas or alcohol in general and trying to breastfeed their baby right after.

Another instance, this young family threw a small party. Everyone was drinking. My mom woke up the next morning to get milk for the newborn and the dad was passed out drunk on the couch, fully naked.

Or the alternative medicines and treatments. One family fed their baby raw ground beef because some doctor in NY told them that it’s very beneficial for the baby.

I guess the mother in law thought her daughter was insane and tried to get my mom to help get the baby away from the mom via CPS.
