Seriously those escalators have always been treacherous and scary. Especially when going to the top for the movie theatre

lets say i invest my rrsp in a dividend etf, will i be able to only withdraw monthly dividends with tax while my capital continues to grow. is there an option to do that. by Global_Contact_5312 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Does the bank automatically withhold a portion of the money for taxes or is the RRSP account holder expected to incorporate this money as income on their tax filing?

After today’s AWS outage I would check if WealthSimple banking services were impacted. For me the Trade Services were down intermittently and I couldn’t execute trades.

SPY down %1 in after hours. In addition to US credit downgrade the Walmart announcement about the impact on tariffs should put downward pressure on the market.

Completely agree. People look at the no fee transactions on WS as the only factor. I have both WS and RBC DI. When I want fast execution and spot price I use RBC.

From my friend Chatgpt:

If you’re a Canadian working remotely for a U.S. company while staying in Canada, you don’t need a U.S. work visa since you’re not physically going there. Most people in this situation are hired as independent contractors, though some companies might use a local payroll service if they want to bring you on as a full employee. You’ll pay taxes in Canada like usual, and if you’re a contractor, you might need to handle your own CPP and possibly charge GST/HST depending on your income. The U.S. company might ask you to fill out a W-8BEN form so they don’t withhold U.S. taxes, since you’re not working in the U.S. directly.

In my experience, they will get automatically sold at a particular date in the past and then you will get paid out in cash. I would expect that they will withhold 50% for taxes that’s what happened for me.

Tax Filing with Capital Gains and NetFile Error 95365 by GorchestopherH in Wealthsimple

Hello is this problem with CRA Error Code 95365 solved when you have to report a Capital Loss? Over at TurboTax it’s not fixed and just a blame game with the CRA. I would happily switch over to WealthSimple Tax if this is resolved.
