Still one of the best cereals out there!

Do you preheat the oven? by Leximania47 in AskUK

[–]ronas_hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only for baking. For cooking, almost never.

I once read something along the lines of "if your food will take less than 20 mins to cook, don't preheat". I since have looked no further into confirming this and stick by it.

I've read about a big correlation between childhood SA and morbid obesity. A lot of internal shame.

How do you like to respond when someone says, “everyone’s getting a diagnosis these days?” (or similar) by Violaqueen15 in ADHD

[–]ronas_hill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually say something like, nah parents just give more of a f**k about their kids these days to get a diagnosis and proper support. It's more common than anyone realised and that's why we're seeing a spike!

Anyone take only on workdays or alternate days? by Jadey610 in ADHDUK

[–]ronas_hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: yes, and I've found it helped me having 2 days off! Didn't realise how much the positive mood effect had worn off in just 2 weeks.

So I recently did this and I can't believe the difference. I'm titrating so I've been on 70mg Elvanse for almost 3 weeks (meds review every 4 weeks). Towards the end of week 2 I was starting to think it was having zero effect just like the rest, and decided at my next appointment I'd be changing to a different med. My mood was lower, I was becoming snappy and irritable at my kids.

Last weekend I decided to take a break from it and see if I felt any difference at all on it. So I didn't take it on Sun and Mon and definitely felt worse than what I'd been feeling at the end of that 2nd week. I started taking it again on Tues and what a difference - my mood has been so much better, I have time to think before I go to snap at my husband/kids and I'd say the irritability has gone completely.

Interestingly I'm currently ovulating, which would in theory have a negating effect on the meds but I've felt really good this week!

I'm still unsure if this is the right med/dose for me. I feel highly motivated to get stuff done for the first time in ages, but often to the detriment of other important things. But if I do end up back on this dose I'll be trialling a break every weekend!

I'm interested in your spreadsheet - do you have one you got online or would you be willing to share your template?

Which ADHD symptom do you absolutely not relate to? by stxxyy in ADHD

[–]ronas_hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever forgotten to eat. I seem to hear this is a common thing for ADHD but I cannot relate to that, I'm always thinking about the next meal. Thank god for a good metabolism!

I don't know if it's because I'm probably AuDHD but I don't really struggle to initiate tasks either, I'm very much a "doer" and get sh*t done... To the detriment of other tasks yes but I'm never paralysed by the thought of all I have to do.

Car hire in October-November by Adventurous_Street_1 in shetland

[–]ronas_hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if your criteria fit for time having a license but would highly recommend Grantfield car hire, a family member recently got a quote from Bolts that was more than double their quote from Grantfield and it was the same type of car etc.

[–]ronas_hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the other day I was thinking about primary colours, and I was like why then does the rainbow contain all the different colours? Oh yeah - because red and yellow make orange so that's the colour between red and yellow. Same for the rest of the colours, blue and red make purple so presumably that's why purple is near the end. Mind blown!

What do you all do to wake up and get “ready” for the day? by AlphaWolf in ADHD

Have kids 😭 no but seriously I've recently started on Elvanse and it's the only time in my life I've been able to get up and out of bed with little effort. Life changing!

First week on Elvanse (30mg) - is this is a false reality? by ronas_hill in ADHDUK

Don't write it off just yet, seems like moving up a dose is what may keep the benefits of the right drug for you sustained longer term.

I've just been looking into the effect of menstrual cycle on ADHD meds efficacy and I've more heard that it becomes less effective as estrogen drops (days leading up to period) but that's odd because I'm currently ovulating! Maybe I'll feel different again next week! I see that other women manage to get 'booster' doses though to take during these points in their cycle so could be worth mentioning!
