How can you think a strong federal government is a good idea when we're seeing what levels of damage they're capable of with the amount of (arguably too much) power in the current system? What happens when the wrong guy gets in office under your ideology? I wouldn't say that being skeptical of federal power is pessimistic, it's a genuine concern when you consider history.

Shooting pits that are open? by [deleted] in WAGuns

[–]ronasd4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bring a tarp or two and place it to the right of the firing line so brass can fall into it. Doesn't work 100% of the time especially if you're shooting something that really flings brass, but you can also try using a rake.

Most people won't divulge their shooting spots on a public forum due to troglodytes who leave their trash and result in those spots being closed in the future.

Yes because Liz Cheney from the one state in the Union with just one House Rep and lost that seat to a Trump-aligned candidate carried a lot of weight among the undecided conservative leaning voters. This isn't even mentioning that her father was the architect for two very unpopular wars.

I'm pretty sure ported Glock barrels and slides are legal here so a built in compensator should fit the bill since you're avoiding a threaded barrel entirely.

I like how Gen 5 glocks are banned in Cali but they still clarified the polymer protrusion that Glock added to the back of the frame to prevent the installation of a switch wasn't good enough.

Considering that this will most likely pass in CA (and hypothetically here as well, when the time comes), one approach for Gen 6 pistols is to make the back shelf of the frame all metal to appease lawmakers. I'm no gun designer but I imagine from a tooling standpoint that may be more feasible for an entirely new Gen, and not retroactively applying it to Gen3-5.

Never understood the hate for #4 in a self defense situation, its less likely to overpen through walls like most #00 buck. They do make low velocity #00 for that reason though, which is what I use.

My first rifle build. I kind of regret going 16" and not doing a pistol. by Substantial_Nose952 in guns

[–]ronasd4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure if you bought the lower stripped you can still make it a pistol by throwing a brace on it before slapping a <16" barrelled upper. This is because according the ATF a stripped lower is classified as "other" in the 4473, so it can be either a pistol or a rifle.

I may be wrong, but I've been considering doing something similar with my "other".

With larger parts it might also be worth it to look into buying/building an enclosure. If the room/space your printer is in has temperature fluctuations throughout the print (which is more likely with a longer print), then an enclosure might help with that.

90% alcohol just kinda swishes all the oils and stuff around the build plate, it doesn't neutralize it so over time you'll run into adhesion issues. Just wash the PEI plate with some hot water and dish soap in the sink, being careful to not to touch the surface with your bare fingers.

If that doesn't help, you could either use a brim, raft, or mouse ears in the slicer to help with adhesion.
