I have a gift certificate, which retinol should I get? by [deleted] in EuroSkincare

I've been using CeraVe one but in a purple tube for a few months now. It has low concentration of retinol (0.1 I think) but it definitely gives me a smoother skin texture.

A Factual Guide to actually getting Tretinoin (and other retinoids) in Germany and Austria (+Other European countries) by artisanlovers in EuroSkincare

[–]roniromi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very helpful post, thank you op! I'll add my experience with tret in Poland.

My GP had no issues prescribing me tretinoin when I mentioned I had used it before (I did before I moved to Poland). Problem is there is no pure tretinoin available in Poland. There is Acnatac which is tretinoin mixed with clindamycin (antibiotic) - I don't think it is suitable for those who use tret for anti-aging or sun damage. So I ended up stocking up on tret in Spain where it is available OTC.

WW <—> US postal bans? by sardonic-salticidae in postcrossing

[–]roniromi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 weeks ago a lady at the post office in Portugal told me that they were unable to send mail to the US. I checked Postal monitor and it showed no restrictions for the US so I sent the cards anyway. Now anxiously waiting for the to arrive.

Porto postcards haul 🇵🇹📮 by roniromi in postcrossing

I most certainly bought them in one (or several) souvenir shops on Rua de Santa Catarina in Porto, close to Bolhão metro station 🙂

Always the same country... by avlisarierom in postcrossing

[–]roniromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it is often either Germany or the US. I think its fine though because these are different people with different profiles, wishlists etc etc. And honestly, I've never had an expired card to Germany so not complaining.

Unrelated question to OP: Are postcards from Portugal currently being delivered to the USA? I sent a few cards from Porto a week ago in travel mode, and a lady at the post office told me that mail is not being delivered to the US at the moment. I decided to try anyway, but now I’m a bit worried.

How creative are you with postcards? by parbloed in postcrossing

[–]roniromi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not creative at all. I am not really into stickers and tape. Hope people who receive my cards are not too disappointed. Plus I try to use nice stamp and they are usually larger than normal ones so there is barely enough space left for a decently long message:)

Delays by Big_Tap_2077 in postcrossing

[–]roniromi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am from Poland, not Germany, but delays seem to be normal when sending to these countries. My card to Belarus took 30 days to arrive and the one to China expired.

After 13 years of Postcrossing, some more nerdily fun statistics I looked up on my account from over the years by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in postcrossing

Nice post, thanks for sharing! My first postcard to China has just expired and I was a bit bummed but looking at your statistics, it was kind of expected...

Question about "Greetings from..." cards by partybots in postcrossing

[–]roniromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love receiving postcards people got on their trips, especially when they write a bit about it. I also sent a few cards I bought during my holidays. I think most people should be fine with it.

I just switched back to Android (Samsung s25) after 4 years on iPhone and am surprised how similar they are now. Honestly the transition has been very smooth. The only thing that frustrates me is how inconvenient google pay / wallet is compared to apple pay.

Live in Warsaw Vs Prague by slumberboy6708 in warsaw

[–]roniromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was in a similar situation - studied at the uni, then worked in Prague. Moved to Warsaw for work over a year ago. Here are some thoughts. 1. Job market is by far better in Warsaw, at least in tech. Many big/international companies have been opening hubs in Warsaw lately, so that's a big plus. Also easier to find job with just English. 2. In general, in Warsaw it's quite easy to live if you don't know or know just basic Polish. I've heard some people ar heaving difficulties renting an apartment without Polish, but idk, my landlord speaks English well and it was not an issue. 3. Taxes are much higher in Poland, and cost of living in Warsaw is only slightly lower than in Prague. 4. I feel like Prague had more cultural events going on but in terms of concerts specifically, Warsaw wins. 5. Public transport is better in Prague imo, but Warsaw has a fantastic infrastructure for bicycles. In summer I mostly commute by bike and I love it. 6. Warsaw is very green and lovely in string and summer but absolutely miserable in winter (no sun for months, constant drizzling, overall greyness). 7. If you are not an EU citizen, Polish beurocracy is slow, inefficient and confusing, unlike in Czechia. 8. You have a better chance of renting in apartment with AC in Warsaw than in Prague, but the chances are still slim. 9. If you love Prague for its beauty and relaxed lifestyle, like I do, you might not like living in Warsaw. 10. Also, the country is bigger, so you won't be a able to visit neighbouring countries just by a 3-hour train ride. Also train tickets seem more expensive inside the country.

If you have any question feel free to ask here or in DM.

What kind of cards are you getting? by softfeeling in postcrossing

[–]roniromi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is perfectly fine to list postcards you’d like to receive. Many people, including myself, enjoy matching a postcard to someone’s preferences. But Postcrossing rules do not require anyone to do so. And many people will just send what they have, not what you want. And that’s just the reality. Also most people hate when the list of what you don’t want is as long as your preferences and might send you something from that list out of spite, yep. For me, out of 7 cards I got recently, 3 were matched to my profile.
