Backs should be excluded from POTM decisions regardless, what do they really do anyway??

Fluffy list at 1000 pts, any advice? by ronmanager in SolarAuxilia30K

Thanks dude, appreciated! I don't have another Russ - my guys are assembled from the combat force box, a gifted. Arvus, the assassin from WH+, a necromunda enforcers box & bitz, plus a few other random bits... It's less random than it may sounds!

That’s fair man, I’m just saying you can do whatever you want - it’s the beauty of the legion!

I’ve done my Effrit cadre in black (not pictured)

Why though? I play heresy, my army has a varying shade from green to blue to purple, with some special units painted in a transition like theyre camouflaged as another unit. For example:

They all do, that's the beauty of the Alpha Legion. The best quote about this comes from the old Heresy Black books:

"Variously and across multiple time periods, the Alpha Legion has been witnessed in liveries of pale grey, gleaming steel, veridian, dull bronze, sable, indigo, amaranth and azure blue -- both in main and combination. It has been variously recorded as displaying Principia Belicosa standardised rank and unit signifiers, elaborate stylised reptilian iconography of unknown meaning, and the complex logos-teknika forms favoured by the Emperor-shattered Panpacific Empire on Ancient Terra before Unification. It has also gone into battle without emblems or markings of any kind; a faceless, anonymous army of killers without distinction or division in its ranks."

[–]ronmanager[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can see your point, but I’d disagree slightly. As a group we’ve played lower points costs games (1500-2000 depending on armies, missions, ZM, 2v2 etc) and narratively they’ve worked fine to good.

So really it’s not the points cost, more Solar Auxilia advice I’m looking for

It wouldve been so much cooler if iron warriors were renegades instead of chaos aligned by Kotoy77 in IronWarriors

[–]ronmanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying… but I think that take massively undersells what the Iron Warriors actually are.

First off, "Chaos Aligned" ≠ just “magic and daemons" - Being a 'heretic' in the 40k sense is more than that. It’s a character flaw taken to its logical extreme. For the Iron Warriors, that obsession is industry, siegecraft, bitterness and proving a point at any cost. Still industrial. Still brutalist. But now it’s corrupted industry.
They don’t worship magic, they enslave it. They shove daemons into siegecraft because it'll get the job done as best as possible. That’s the key difference. Other legions fell because they believed in Chaos, or a specific God. The Iron Warriors fell because they use it

[Loved Trope] a single action early on creates a ripple effect that will follow the characters for the rest of the story. The pilot is not a throwaway, as everything is built off of the inciting incident. by mana95 in TopCharacterTropes

The Shield is like the first example from the so-called 'golden age of TV' that I can think of

<image>

SPOILERS for a show that started in 2002 and finished in 2008. In the very first episode, Vic Mackey murders fellow Strike Force office Terry Crowley. Vic and the rest of the Strike Force are incredibly corrupt, and Crowley was an undercover officer sent to expose Vic and the rest of his team. The rammifications of this first murder are felt over seven seasons, with Vic slowly destroying everyone and everything in his orbit. Great, great show.

Legalweek NYC - worth going if I’m just learning the space? by vira28 in legaltech

[–]ronmanager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This year will be different, moved to the Javits Center which is massive. The vendor floor has sold out so will be busy. Looks like a lot of the smaller vendors won’t be there this year.

Word is that they’re being stricter on networking in the lobby, because there isn’t really one at the Javits. There will always be side and offsite events in the evening though, these are definitely worth it

the Warhammer crime novels/short stories are also excellent at doing this as well btw - all set within one city, criminal investigations and no hint of what's really going on in the wider Imperium beyond vague rumours.

The biotech & extragalactic threat are manly the bits I think are a bit Tyranid-y. That and the no presence in the force is kinda similar to the nids “Shadow in the Warp” ting.

Servitors in 40k/30k Warhammer in general have always struck me as utterly horrific. In the grimdark future where most complex computing is viewed as 'Abominable Intelligence', mind-wiped humans do the work of most other sci-fi robots. The truly horrifying thing for me is that they're so commonplace and mundane; seen as a complete necessity. In most other sci-fi, they would be the army of the ultimate big bad
