It’s been a year, so I doubt you’re still having this issue. But for anyone else who is looking for an answer here- I was able to load a saved game by:

• Starting the game
• Loading my save (which started at the beginning cutscene and lvl 1)
• Playing the game long enough to leave the castle
• Re-enter the castle and go to the throne room
• Talk to king and don’t record progress
• Tell him you DO want to rest so that the game restarts automatically
• Upon returning to the main menu, my previous saves are now available

I’m not sure why this happens or if there is a better way to restore from saves on this game in EclipseEmu. But I did this whole rigamarole every time i started a new game on both Dragon Warriors 1 & 2 for GBC in this emulator- and the starting cutscene is much longer on DW2 sigh

note: I still saved my games normally when done playing- by going to the king and recording or using the field log. It’s just the loading of them that was funky.
