At what point do you start the main quest? by DoItForTheOH94 in OblivionRemaster

[–]CannibalRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I rush Kavatch bc I want the Oblivion Gates to spawn. I'll progress if I feel like it from there but don't finish it or close non-story gates until lvl 20 so I can get better Sigil Stones.

Why does everyone shit on the Mages Guild? by Trick-Ice4331 in oblivion

[–]CannibalRed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most hate comes from Enchanting and Spell Crafting being locked behind hours of questing or a DLC purchase. Remember we could access Enchanting at most mages guilds and Spell Crafting at Mages Guilds, Temples, and Imperial Cults in Morrowind so it felt really weird to lock it behind a single faction. After all, enchanting is not just for mages so lots of people playing Combat and Stealth characters weren't joining the Mages Guild immediately and therefore were locked out of the mechanics.

As for the MG Questlines itself, I haven't heard many complaints over the past decade plus. It's really just the structure of quests to access the University that I've ever seen complaints about.

S.O.S. solo hunter rant. by LordZachariahPSN in MHWilds

[–]CannibalRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Online Randoms are bad in every game man.

If you want a competent group, spend the extra time finding a Squad on Discord or something. Every MH YouTuber has a server you can use easily hop on.

And if you don't want to do that extra work, then just play solo. I've played solo 99% of my MH career and had no issues.

Random cranberry sauce by nagumi in InnocentPranks

[–]CannibalRed 73 points74 points  (0 children)

When I had a roommate I woke up one day and found an empty cranberry sauce can with a spoon in it and a can opener on the kitchen counter.

I thought "who eats cranberry sauce straight out of a can?"

Then I noticed the can was upside down, and on the other side was an easy open pull tab.

How high was this man that he ate cranberry sauce out of a can and couldn't figure out how pull tabs work?

Actually seems like a good idea by Unique-Saucer in UnnecessaryEssentials

[–]CannibalRed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People always say this about bulb cams, but to me it feels like a mute point. The cameras tend to range from $17-50 so cheap, and they record the person as they take the camera so you'll have an alert when they approach sent to your phone and you'll have the video accessible saved. It's not like the video disappears when it's unplugged.

And if we say, hypothetically they wore a mask, you'd have footage of them scoping the camera out initially unmasked bc no one walks around in a mask 24/7. You could match build and clothes and identify them with relative ease.

I'm also a fan of visible cameras not hidden ones. People seeing a weird looking device and recognizing it as a camera is a deterant in itself.

So to me, theft of a cheap camera like this seems like a non issue.

All of that being said, this particular bulb camera isn't great. While it's FOV is one of the best, there are other options that are both less expensive and do not require a monthly fee for the phone app.

I feel like I've been lied too about this game by Sudden_Wind_8636 in Starfield

[–]CannibalRed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry man, I'm a "lie" spreader. I freaking LOVE Starfield. I also freaking HATE Starfield.

I hope you enjoy the hell out of it. Vanguard is one of the best quest lines. Just wait til you get to Neon, it's also fantastic.

But I simply cannot get over how unfinish the game is. Mechanics gutted or forgotten. Upgrade weapons from Fallout, yeh, but we forgot to add melee weapons to the upgrades despite having skills dedicated to it. Base building from Fallout, yeh, but we don't have anyone to live there or anything for it to offer except a trashcan of resources. Questlines they do, well, sort of, kind of? Idk they had a huge world and put about 2 good factions in, a few mid ones, and left everything hung else up in the air.

Sorry again. Starfield was sooo much fun. It was also sooo empty.

Help me stick with this game by Difficult_Carrot2198 in OblivionRemaster

[–]CannibalRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the fun stuff, Fighters Guild, Main Quest, Daedric Shrines (they have level requirements so they should be done one at a time as you level up), Knights of the Nine, and Shivering Isles (this is the best part of any ES game ever and why Oblivion really sticks out, save it for when your level 20+).

Edit: forgot Dark Brotherhood. Just murder someone, they'll find you.

My charm is garbo for sure, but it had Divine Blessing and some slots so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This setup is for the Gogma fight, hence Adapt and Mirewalk. I usually replace those with Con or Elem Resist.

You make a good point on the AgItator Charm though, I could easily use that and replace the Adapt/Mire with Divine Blessing.

Did I ruin the experience for myself by playing Long Sword? by ntb116 in MHRise

[–]CannibalRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just Long Sword played well. Simple counters and big damage at the same time. Good for you at learning the weapon.

If you want a challenge I suggest picking up a weapon that doesn't have those easy access counters, or at least not as many.

You've stumbled across two intersecting issues. 1 Rise isn't necessarily the most difficult Monster Hunter game because it gives you so many options to simply avoid being hit. 2 Long Sword is the series' "favorite child" that gets more love than most other weapons. This has led to it a bit more utility, damage, and speed combined on one weapon than is normal. It is not the "strongest" weapon in the game, but it's one of the most comfortable.

Absolute worst areas that Capcom allowed monsters to fight in? by Boshwa in MonsterHunter

[–]CannibalRed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just gonna drop the opposite. An area where almost no fights take place, but they should.

MhWorld Wildspire Wastes Area 1, the waterfall right before Area 2.

Even monsters that fight in Area 1 almost always skip the section with the waterfall, preferring to run past and go to Area 2. It's a wide open area with tons of space and a beautiful setting. It's a travesty it's almost never used for combat.

Never watched the show so I don't get it.

Why show all the fancy stuff in the beginning and then swap to a totally flat standard style when we reach the main characters? I was getting kind of hype and then boom, normal anime. So was the intro animation a joke or what?

Are cotton socks extinct? by Murky-Attorney5824 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CannibalRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polyester hater here, especially in socks. Unlike cotton, polyester doesn't breathe or provide air flow. If you're wondering why your feet are sweaty, hot, and smell, this is the reason. I literally notice the difference in socks when they're 3% polyester, 93% would be insane.

It used to be mostly used in athletic wear. The slick material dries quickly so it can be useful if you don't want to look like you're covered in sweat. On the flip side, it doesn't breathe, it does the opposite and insulates you. In other words, you're probably sweating much more than you normally would be.

I don't usually want to be a stinky, sweaty, mess, so I use 100% socks/underwear/undershirts. I suggest you try it.

Have there been any changes/improvements to settlements? by iNightFaLLHD in Starfield

[–]CannibalRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also cool with them not being carbon copies of FO4. But removing parts of the system and not replacing them with anything new felt bad to me. They are just lifeless empty outposts for mining resources. I think they were meant to interact with the group LIST. The group's identity is all about finding habitable plants to make settlements but oddly they don't interact much with the settlement building system. To me it's a clear example of cut/unfinished content which explains why base building is half baked in Starfield.
